Plants are looking great guy to bad the Sparrows did some trashing.
Thanks Amax,
I had this problem last year with them, what are you going to do, I'll just have more filler.

I was looking at my shade grown Florida Sumatra, and the sparrows are the least of the problem now.
I'm not sure but I think it's tomato spotted wilt virus. TSWV
On the left side of the fence was a silver maple that was diseased and cut down last year.
Also where their planted was some plywood that laid there and rotted, so it could be anything.
It's working it's way up the plant, in the picture you can see the tops still look good, but will soon look like the bottom.

Over in the sun side, I have a Izmir that has what looks like tobacco etch virus. TEV
I'm not sure on any of my assumptions, just going by what I'v been looking at on the IPM images on the link Deluxestogie pointed me to. Thanks again Bob, http://www.ipmimages.org/browse/Areasubs.cfm?area=62
The plants around it look fine, knock wood.

Got some TN-90, Florida Sumatra, Silver River, and Silk leaf hung.
Over 95% of the Florida Sumatra is Swiss cheese from sparrows.
I'm tagging everything this year, picture of tags show Silver River lower.
SR with L below. Should, keep things a little more organized I'm hoping.

From left to right, TN-90 one row, Florida Sumtra 2 rows, and Silver River 2 rows

If it doesn't drain promptly, some of the leaf may wilt. If you prime that wilted leaf before the sun scalds it, it will cure-up nicely.

That's what i'm worried about, scalding.
I was looking at BigBonner's post #13 in (I'm about to give up farming),
and he said they can stand it for about a day, but after that they start the drowning process.
And if the soil dries out, and not get hot and sunny, they could make it.

It is going to be sunny today but, It's 54 degrees now and calling for a high of about 70 today, (at the end of July, rare), so i'm priming what I can, and hope it's drained.

I was going to prime yesterday because the weather man said, it's not going to be a lot of rain, there's just not that much moisture to work with, proof you can get a decent salary not knowing your arse from a hole in the ground.

It sure has been a well rounded summer, with rain, then almost a 100 degrees for a while, then this, now cool at the end of July.
Hope it doesn't frost in August.
Last year it was just hot, no rain.

It is what it is, just gota make the best with what I got.

I've had the same thing quite a few times this summer. If you get away with overcast after the flood, and you can drain it off, you should be ok. I ended up with only a few small scalded places on just a couple of leaves. The real damage was to the crop in the pine rows. They all stunted bad, about 3' at best. I think bacca can take a harder hit at the stage yours is at and still finish well. Good luck on finishing a great grow.

If you can dig a hole to dip the water off and bucket it to the nearest ditch .As clear as that water is . , If the plot sets up high enough you could always use a garden hose and cypher the water off . With small plots this could be done easy with acres it is hard to do . This cool weather we are having may be your best friend right now . Cool on wet soil is best . Getting rid of the water would be better .

Cool and no rain is a good thing. Don't prime too much and give up on them. My garden patch has had standing water several times this year and two of my biggest plants are in thaT patch.

So... (almost afraid to ask but) How are they looking today?
Well I just got in about an hour ago, finished hanging leaf I primed Sunday.
Their still looking a little yellow, but they should be fine I'm hoping, if we don't get any more rain.
You can still leave a finger print, not an imprint, but a finger print in the mud, 40 some hours after the rain.

Those pictures were taken about 6 hours after it had stopped raining.
I was going to bail it like BigBonner said, but it had soaked in most of the way Sunday, and it was cloudy and 70 degrees Sunday and Monday.
That helped the most I think.

Their calling for rain tonight and tomorrow, again!, saying it's not going to be much rain, the air is just too dry.
I got me a weather rock now, if the rock is shinny... it's raining, if it's white... it's snowing, if you can't see it... it's night.
Should be more accurate than the weather man.

How about you? still no rain up your way from what I've been seeing.
Those pumps are working triple over time I bet.

I bagged the Silver River today, damn I had to stand on my tip toes to do it.

Any way, I'm ready for the next round mother nature has to throw.

Nope, not a drop. July will go out last like year with a big 0 for rain. The weather wizards are saying we will get some Thursday and Friday though. They might even be right. There is a low pressure system in the Pacific just off the coast and the jet stream should push it in. Then back to the upper 80's and low 90's next week.

We have one local weatherman who sounds like the opposite of yours. He predicts everything will be big and record setting. You can take what he says and divide by 3 and get pretty close. lol Glad to hear your plants got a break from the rain. We never have standing water like that unless the ground is still frozen.
