Hey guys, forecast is calling for 30 degrees tomorrow night. Are these suckers hardy enough to withstand that if I throw some sheets over them?

Well, Temps dipped into the mid twenties last night. A disappointing end to the season. I keep telling myself I've learned my lesson about frosts around here, yet I keep trying to push it.

It's always worth documenting the variance of your local microclimate (your thermometer; your yard) from the "local" forecast. For me, as winter approaches, my overnight low temp is often about 5°F lower than my "local" forecast. And with even gently sloping of land, the lower areas get colder, within a single acre.

Solid advice, Bob. I'll definitely be getting myself a thermometer for the garden area now.

This is great info. Thanks, Knucklehead. Makes me think I've got a chance at salvaging some.

Well, had a pleasant surprise when I got home from work. Those plants rebounded incredibly well. What I thought was certainly going to be a complete loss, looks like it will only be a 5-10 percent loss. It's amazing, some of the delicate oriental leaves were frozen crispy and dark dark green this morning, and this afternoon look perfectly fine.

I decided to harvest everything today. We're having a wind storm today, rain tomorrow then the Temps drop again. So I did the deed. Any tips on an expeditious way to clean the sand and debris off?

Hey guys. I've got my Virginia's and Orientals yellowing in piles. Today I checked in the middle of a pile to see what was happening and felt it was getting warm in the center. Is this normal or am I making compost?

Bottom leaf can sun-cure like that. Upper leaf usually cures to a darker color. It looks almost flue-cured. Stuff a bit into a pipe, and see what you've got.

I'm thinking I should get a few clay pipes for the sampling process. I tossed some in a pipe and it tasted a lot like skiff mixture with tongue bite.
