Update 8-25-13:

Got cabin windows cut and doors as well. Leaves only bathroom and back wall windows to cut. Next steps will be to run frames around the windows and then make the windows. All will raise up to allow opening in rain except the front top side windows which will open to back like the lil windows on the old trucks. Will drag in the air into cabin.

Am building a tilt helm console using a Teleflex SeaStar hydrolic steering helm and an 18" Destroyer wheel.
A tilt helm is like $200 more so I am making one from glass.
I used a 5 gallon steel bucket for mold and covered with wax paper.
Then cut the glass off. Squared ends and added wax paper covered foam board ends to make ends solid glass. Then will cut work hole in back of it and mount the helm on the other on a 5" flat side made into cylinder.

Also plan to make the entire console move to the upper deck when needed. It wont be automatic but will work once it is up there. Will use hatch in roof. :).
This drum with helm will fit into console with equally rounded front and will pivot on wooden shaft. Will use pins to hold degree of tilt needed at the moment.

Now that curing chamber and plants are finally caught up, I can concentrate on the boat. Is almost oyster season dam it :(
Missed the shrimp season pretty much and crabs will soon leave when the northers start blowing but that is a while here. I am thinking 45 days at earliest.

I went back to the first post. You've really come a long way. That's a lot of hard work and fabrication. You've done a hell of a job so far. Thanks for sharing.

Man that's a ton of work done, I can see the sweat dripping.
That extended cabin will be a god send when the water is slick comm on a summer after noon.
I see tobacco creeping up the rear.....

LOL............ It wont take the big ones I'm sure but should handle what I will put her thru to get out and back in within her type of environment..... At worst maybe a jog across a small bay and then anchor until it gets slick again..... That is why the margarita machine is there also. They got some reasonable priced 2 drum ones on Ebay now but are 125#. The single drum ones are $750 new but weigh in at 42#...... Hard to get a good accurate review on them tho as they haven't been around long. Alcholol lowers freezijng point and nothing worser than a half cold frozen rita.

There is a record price year ahead for shrimp. Something hapopened overseas to ponds they tell me.
The BP thing is over and unless the soap they used killed the bottom there should be or would have been a record shrimp crop after the spill.,
Same thing happened in Campeche years ago and the best year in 30 years resulted due to the shrimp eating the oil-eating bacteria :)
I hadn't heard much tho. Quit shrimping in 2000 and haven't looked back much.
