It's hardly worth the trouble. I also discovered his use of one of my photos of Hickory Pryor. Unfortunately for him, the view includes Perique in the foreground.

What a schmoe!

Bob

EDIT: I guess I should add that I've noticed many of the variety-specific photos from this forum appearing with top ranking within Google images searches for a named variety. I guess that's good for traffic.

Tim,
It all comes down to interested members participating--keeping the forum vibrant and active. Of course, my Uncle Google does his part.

I'll see if we can put a watermark on the pictures. I really don't like the idea of someone stealing our work. I know the text content is copyrighted, so I'm assuming the pictures would be also.

Bob, send my a link to the pirate and I'll send a threatening letter.

We're averaging well over 50 posts a day. That's far more than all of the other tobacco growing/processing sites combined. Good work everyone!

I'm a dont wanna be a lawyer, and i'm not, but any pic downloadable would only be protected if someone filed a suit against misuse, my common sense opinion. Your thoughts? Copy right is a whole different issue.

I saw those seeds he is selling and I honestly thought he was a son of yours . His user name is sonofdad2 , I thought it may have been a second son of yours selling seeds .I knoticed they were your pictures and the same seeds you have .

Isn't this site copyrite . He would have gotten the pictures from here or maybe that other site .I think you can complain to ebay about stolen picture . http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html

I just sent this letter. I guess (technically) the picture becomes property of the site and so I can make a legal claim against the site's content being copied and used for commercial purposes. I don't have any problem protecting what anyone has put on this site.

Dear Sirs,

Your use of the picture in your Ebay listing is a violation of common trademark rights, common service mark rights, and/or trade name rights, and this letter constitutes FairTradeTobacco.com's demand that you cease and desist any and all use of its intellectual property. The photograph you are using is private property and you do not have permission to use it.

You should immediately forward this letter to your attorney.

Thank you,]

Out of curiosity, the original website where hijacked pcture or pictures originate from that were lifted,swiped,pasted.... was it FTT, where do the copyrights start on the web, On protected sites it may be possible to do as you say water mark? or keep from pasting.

can we paste quotes from other members into [reply with quotes ]here, from more than 1 post? I would find that very helpful. say search back for previous post to add to response. Instead of saying search that. I may know where to look but cant add to response if found . Is it a paste thing.

Surround a quote with quote tags that look like this (without the extra spaces) [ quote="George Washington, 1789"]Who moved my tobacco?[ /quote]. I've added the extra spaces here so you can read the tag. If I leave out the spaces, then you will see:
George Washington said:
Who moved my tobacco?
The quote marks (") are required for the attribution.

To add a link to a page (or another site) you use the url tags (again without the extra spaces) [ url]www.fairtradetobacco.com[ /url], and it will display like this:

www.fairtradetobacco.com

In the "advanced" interface, you also have icon buttons to accomplish these two tasks.

If you want to quote multiple entries from the same thread, you can click the multi-quote icon (the last one on the right).

Sharing with my posted photos with fellow members is absolutely ok with me, I'm flattered. Tom, Thanks for giving another prospective to an unproven variety. Try some in full sun and a couple in a shaded location. See what happens? The seeds you sent are sprouting beautiful as well as all others I was lucky enough to aquire. :cool:but I think chickens seedlings gets the best for this time of yr. so far.

Of course, but he's got a head-start on us too! Not too worry though, it will soon be warm enough here in 'Baccyville' and in your neck of the woods to give our little seedlings a chance to mature. I will take your advice to grow some MCY in full sun and others in shade. Could get interesting. Will let you know. The pernicious weeds have sprouted and set seed already!!! Then there are the dreaded Hornworms. So much to do, so little time. OK, here we groooow.

Bob, I reported the listing as suspected as being fraudulent. Hopefully E-bay will contact me so I can expand on my claim. So far all I was able to do was click on multiple choice type responses.

Interesting at the least.

Truer words were never spoken.

I didn't really intend to stir up a hornet's nest. I assume everything I post on the Web will be stolen, if it seems useful. It would be nice to think that those who use "borrowed" content would at least have the courtesy to attribute the source. That's all I ask.

Bob, Giving credit where credit is due is a form of flattery, And attributing the source for your photos with or without permission would be the right approach at the least. Weigh the difference of your reaction to the method used and don't even feel guilty, my humble opine.
