the pickledhering You posted made My mouth water. Haven't see any in a while.

Making an attempt to send some over next week to one backerpatcher who says he's starving.
So , I feel like its my kinda fault since I had them pics uploaded and don't want to see this guy die from starvation.
Sendin him The Grand Master Pickled One , tryin to make him Feel Really Happy.

The nitrate definitely explains a lot, especially at near .5lb per plant. ;)

First I thought you wrote 5 Ib DGB , but lookin a bit closer I could see that it was .5 Ib Don't think that its that much and I refer to this video where you can see how its performed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EGmPH2yheo Sorry , that Dang video wouldn't link.....
But you'll find it on page 37 in my log and post numero #364
I've spread it close to a Meter in circumferance ( 0,8-1M ) and it is pretty far from the rootball/system ( 1 1/2- 2 feet). :D

YardStickTrickrestimated , from today

No Swindle Hoax or cheat at 16 inches wide and long.No suckers or buds either. ( 1 feet 3 3/4 )

Per Ola ... I am so jealous of your Rustica man ... do you think it's just your fantastic recycling nutrients - or the variety??? I too decompose all the weed roots I find in a water barrel to give the nutrients back to the plants - and use the yellow stuff too - but I've never seen anything as impressive as those Rustica leaves.

I have a brilliant recipe for twist tobacco made from rustica which is easier than a snus recipe and you can use it just like snus. Those leaves would work perfectly for it.

I sure hope you are saving your seeds this year ... If you are I will be begging come the end of the year!!

Congratulations!

Abba = the producer of the Herring
Kungshamn = a place up the eastern coast , not to far from the capitol
MästarMatje = MasterPickledHerring
Milt kryddad = Mildly Spiced

The other ingredients u see in that pic is not in the can , have to add that yourself , so in a way Abba is teasing you+gums with a fake pic where anyone can drool over........

Thank you very much Squeez , long time no sea by the way ,
Have 2 friends that I mentioned CalciumNitrate to a month or so , and one of'em thought he was dreamin' when coming to his patch after a full treatment with that stuff.
I can imagine myself that it can be a variety of different components making the leafs look like they do.
I drilled 85 holes with a soildrill last summer trying to make something happen in these 8 rows of backer.
In 6 of the rows I've used grass nettles and a few other weeds aswell , poundig them down in those holes I drilled , 15 cm wide x 60-90 cm deep ( 6 inch x up to 3 f deep).
The nutrients in this ''new'' soil is far better for anything to grow in compared to what was in the patch before them holes.
The soil I pulled up/drilled up was taken away , using a wheelbarrel to do that and so on , I have put a hole lot of manhours into them holes and I'm very glad it've paid off.
But as DGBAMA said earlier today , I think that the CalciumNitrate has played a good part in those leafs , even though I just spread it in a meters circumference to protect the plants from snailslugs.
Was meant to be in my waterbarrels from the beginning........
You got some snus still due since the puck I sent u last year molded or whatever its called.
This time it ain't gonna have any mold in it , I promise , cause its been heattreated for a hole week 24/7 at 100 Celcius Degrees.
Every tiny little Microbe is stonedead.
Look in yer mailbox in 1-2 weeks.
Its gonna be a snus to kill for , my own 24 varieties from last years crop. 10 % Small Stalk in it
10 outof 10 possible from 2 guys in the States as of now

I hear you PO ... weeds are amazing at getting nutrients from deep down in the soil. I use a mixture of nettles, comfrey, borage, dock and horsetails ... these weeds have roots that go to the centre of the earth! They have to be pulling up some good minerals from down there!!

Your offer of another snus is a very kind one ... I will return the favour this time ... my home recipes are getting very good (although it's not all home grown tobacco yet!)

Cheers

I used bat guano years ago. There are two kinds sold here in the U.S. One is high in Phosphorus and the other is high in Nitrogen. I used the high Phosphorus version for my vegetable garden. Can't say I noticed it being different from any other fertilizer.

In my veg garden I use a mix of perlite compost or poo and sphagnum peat moss

Can you see any differance in the progress of yer veggies greg ?
As far as I can understand it, that perlite stuff will keep soil moist for a longer period of time + givin you an airier soil. Perhaps more oxygen to the plants or somethin like that ?
Hope u understand how I mean......
There's a relative to Perlite namned Vermiculite that seems to work in about the same way as Perlite.

Look on the veggie garden thread everything is going nuts because the roots can go where they want and drains very well thinking about growing baccy in raised beds next year and an added bonus no weeds
