daniel , if nice weather stays ( and it seems like it will ) and depending on how long I harden off ( start today ) I'd say the beginning of May.The saying here is to harden off for 14 days , the last couple of nights around the clock.

Thanks BAMA , couldn't agree with you more. I'm in on the same line , trim off them small leaves to be able to put the plant deep.
A bit harder on , for example Virginia Gold where you have leaves where the plantingsoil begins. If now one doesn't mind to cut of two nice leaves.....

I had an accident just 1/2 hour ago , when moving the trays from the sun into the shade....
Had a number of trays balancing up on a rail , which I have done for 3 days now , when this gust came from nowwhere and 2 trays fell overboard , GC 1 Rustica and Michigan Burley.
I might be able to save half of the GC 1's and 2/3 of the Michigan Burley.
Too bad.
But I'll manage.

Yeah , didn't like that , making a sort of mistake.
Replanted the GC's and kinda saved 8 out of 12 of them but they are a bit wrecked.
Think they will recover pretty good , or hope so atleast.

as long as the mainstem did not snap completely, more will survive than you think. Just trim back the damaged parts and give em a chance.

Sorry to hear that, The cups are a PITA but it is Cool to watch the roots grow. I just can't think a plant can do as good in a 72 cell tray. But it has been proven they come back as big. I still like my cups.
Baccy is like a Timex, takes a liken and keeps on ticken.
Good Luck with them.

Another reason to keep the leaves trimmed is to make them aerodynamic so the wind won't blow them over. :p

You could trim them more. The cups are big enough to make strong root system. When you put them in the soil?

Maks : Sure , I could probably trim them more like u say , but I would just like to keep it simple and easy for me to comprihend.
They will planted in about 10 days from today , been hardening them off now for 5 days , think they have tp endure some more sun......
The plants are screaming out loud to be released into the free

forumdotabaco : Think you should ask the other guys , I don't know much about this haircut thing.....

Here is my solution to transport my seedlings out to my patches.
It's an old tabletop on which I have nailed some plexiglas that I got from a neighbor today.
Gonna rig this on to my BIKE , ( you might think I'm nuts) its 4,5 feet long and 2,5 feet wide and I can have more than 1/3 of my seedlings on this device.
Have to do this ride early in da morning or late at night or the hole town think I'm nuts :D
How u like it ?
