The reason I asked about the water is that tobacco would likely grow poorly, if at all, where the soil experiences salt water intrusion.

I understand the angle of your question very well , Bob.
As I go along with this years different patches I try to learn somethin new by every year that passes by.
Next year I don't really know what I'm going to do , might even have the chance to move abroad if I like , will know for sure in Oct/nov this year.
Even thought to myself I could come over to your side of the world and pay a few of you a visit.............Visa lasts for 3 months without havin to apply for one.
Perhaps I can bring a few hundred different varieties of new seeds on an eventual trip.
Been to SF a few times but never to the interior part of the USA , visited Hawaii some 31 years ago. ( Jesus Christ , is it that long ago  )
I do like the sand very much , mostly cause there aint that many of them snails/slugs + easy to drill and put some good manure in that hole.
Had a girl out my ordinary patch this afternoon takin some footage of me speakin of this and that + showing her my RusticaPlants , she would normally live in Boston but is here to take care of her mum who isnt soo very well any more.
She'd been hit by allergy pretty bad today so she wasn't really up to the footage.

Norrland sounds cold all by itself. Northern Norrland's got to be really cold. Makes you wonder about the temp up at the north edge of northern Norrland (I guess that would be Norrbotten). But then there's still a bit of Norway north of that. I guess the geographers have run out of comparitives and supurlatives for "north."

Seems like there is a whole lot of things/stuff that are out of sync in the world today , Norrland is no exception.
A few days ago they were up in their 20's......Upsidedown you turn me......( Diana Ross 1980)
Over here there's growers havin flower buds showin too , I am no exception.
Glad I can escape in to the world of tobacco with all that brings along , so to say.
9 times outof 10 it rains on Midsommers eve , if its good weather/sun one gets confused ( more than usual.......)

I'm sorry Bob but I can't tell you......:(
Had some sort of a marking sticks when I planted all of the plants , in good intention ofcourse.
The name of each variety was handwritten with a marker pen and I guess the rain erased it just to play tricks with me......
So , I was not as smart as Boboro , he used some sort of coloredtape if I'm no too mistaken.
Also , I've had a too great number of plants settin' flowerpods , but am still havin' the time of my life despite this kinda fact.
Planted a few of them suckers in empty depressions and even some suckerleaves.
Wonder what is to become of them ?

That is the Fun Part of growing, Keeping track of the plants then the leaf start to finish.
I gave up saying I will remember that. I put it all in my phone now and send it off to the cloud in case I lose my phone.

Yea , I agree with u GreG , I have Ancient in my Sacks up on the Suburbian 4th floor of the building where I live.
The one's on the patch are from Jessica and ARS-GRIN varieties , except for one that is a Canadian 1000 year old tobacco.http://www.saltspringseeds.com/catalog/index.cfm?categoryid=101 ( 5 th from the bottom floor)
Bugus ofcourse it is as with many other things........
Great deal with them though , ordered 3 packs x100 seeds in each and got 6 packs x 100 for the amount of 3.
Wanted to return the excess packs but Jason (Owner) said it was ok.

I would really like to find the grin name and # for this variety it looks very promising at this point, nice large leaves and bugs are not bothering them

Do you mean the Ancient Rustica Greg ?
There's 64 different strains of Rustica at GRIN-ARS and perhaps it's called somethin else there.
