Yeah, but did you catch that we were confused by the term "dark flue cured" which we are unfamiliar with? Was that a bit of an unintentional phrasing?
Yes China i caught that. Unintentional. Im going with a dark tobacco. And I'm going to flue cure it -if that makes a difference-. Im not sure yet if there are some that flue curing would turn out less desirable or not.

I don't think anyone is trying to give you a hard time, just confused with what you are after. I'm not sure flue cured would make a big difference for chew or is necessarily the best choice. My impression is people generally go with flue cured to get a little lighter colored sweeter flavored leaf for cigs and sometimes pipe tobacco.
My guess is most air cured/kilned varieties are going to be darker colored. Cooking them for chew should give a darker colored leaf. When I've cooked leaves at higher temps in the oven they tend to darken up. The question I think we both are kind of interested in are what is a good variety for chewing tobacoo?
I think burley types are probably going to be the general answer. I've seen small stalk black mammoth listed as a good multipurpose variety (not one I am currently growing). Are there other varieties people generally recommend is what I'm curious about as well...

Don't worry about giving me a hard time. (Wife can verify I have no feelings lmao). Im going with flue cured because within a month or 2 of harvest (this year maybe before harvest) ill have snow on the ground. I dont think i could begin air curing so im "speed curing".
I think I want to grow about 5 varieties next year. I was thinking of a Turkish for a start.

The curing chambers can be multi-purpose, flue cure, kiln, or air cure. The only difference being the temperature and humidity settings used for that particular purpose. DGBAMA used his chamber for air curing due to the drought and low humidity one summer in our area. By curing inside the chamber, he was able to maintain ideal air curing conditions. His thread would be helpful for anyone wanting to air cure in inclement weather/climate. It can also be used for flue curing or kilning, opening up your options.
