wow that freezer is a thing of beauty for tobacco curing. how hot can you get it with the defrost heater. are all the fans run for internal circulation? sure looks like you don't have to install a window. i looked at it and thought it was a store soda fridge from the picture. i don't think you could have done any better with a find like that. good luck i will be looking for something like that. it sure could get a conversation going while enjoying a drink or three with a few friends after work.

Amax was drooling all over his keyboard till you posted the price. lol. That is one serious controller.
Yeah man ---was looking and thinking ooooW look at this thing slobber, grunt, and crap.
I have found you don't need to spend that to get the job done. For a small home grower you just can't justify the cost.
What is really needed a good temperature controller ramping not needed (20 to 50 bucks), a good humidity controller to operate vents (50 to 100 bucks), solenoids to open/close vents (a pair 40 to 70 bucks) a Dry / Wet Bulb set-up.

Today I start advancing to the 120*F mark, and hold until all is yellow then I begin to kill the stems.

Venting to dehumidify, humidifier to humidify at the moment still waiting on ranco (shipping) I used an atic T-stat up to 120*F, but from there I need the ranco. The attic stat only goes to 120*F but you would be surprised just how accurate the thing is. I am going to order the DCS-4000. I'll need it for next year
How are you controlling heat and humidity?

Well the VA Gold should be almost full on lemon yellow. I think by tonight or tomorrow morning I will begin to ramp up the drying phase. When this run is finished I think I'm going to season my box with a fire cure, as you would a cast iron skillet. BigBonner sent me some fire cure and, WOW!
Hey Workhorse, just getting around to this thread. The fire cured description of wow is right on. Its amazing what you guys are doing, I am still learning the basics of growing. And varietys to try. It looks like I picked a good time when the leaves are almost ready. For testing heh heh.

When they smell like apple Pie the way BigBonners does. I swear, between Bonners apple pie flue cured and deluxestogies tobacco candy I am truly amazed.

140*F db and climbing. The stems are going to be dry well before I hit the mark but i'm going to stick with the plan. I hope I have as beautiful of a picture as bama tomorrow. The whole stalk is looking great. It was like a whole stalk air cure all hopped up on steroids. My cigar buddy came over today and opened the door. He turned around, grinned at me and said it smelled like heaven. Anytime someone tells me that I point to the bag of amax tobacco candy. No one has ever argued with me on that around here.
