Ha, thank you everyone. Yes, I'm trying to not worry about every little thing that happens to them or about how the weather isn't how I would like it to be. I am however, developing a passionate hatred for slugs. My plants are doing very well though in spite of the nasty little things.
Slugs come under the same name and cure in all languages, don't need short hand! Find em, kill em.(n)

Here is a picture of my main plot as of this morning:

from left to right: Burley (don't know what variety), Virginia Bright leaf, Virginia gold leaf. There are a few smaller plants here and there I planted later on experimentally. The plant at the top of the burley row is actually a bright leaf sucker that I got to take root and is growing relatively well now.

This is a picture of my father's tobacco he is growing this season. It is the same thing he has been growing for many years now, and I don't know the name of it. It came from a commercial tobacco farmer in Maryland. It was his "private stock" that he had allegedly perfected over 20 years. That's the story anyway....

I have had probably about 4.5 to 5 inches of rain in the past week. They are calling for a good bit more too. Last night my tobacco plants looked great. They had grown a good bit since last picture I took and looked healthy. However, I noticed some of the new leaves that are coming in are coming in more yellow than usual (overwatering I assume). When I went and checked on them a little bit ago, they were droopy/wilty. To me, it looks like more than just hot sun droop. A couple of the plants are drooping so bad it looks like they are dying. Sorry I don't have a picture at the moment, but without a picture does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be? Would too much water and then hot sun cause them to droop very badly?

Can anyone explain the difference between VA Brightleaf and VA Gold mentioned earlier in this log? I'm growing Brightleaf and it's growing some pretty big leaves and they cure easily when picked yellow. Is VA Gold similar, grow better, bigger, or better flavor? I'm thinking I may need some seeds for next year, lol.

@Oldfella grows gold every year I believe and could maybe give you some hands on advice. This is pretty much my first year growing anything other than the unknown variety my dad has always grown so I'm not much help there. https://wholeleaftobacco.com/cat/american-turkish-tobaccos/cigarette-tobaccos/ sells two different types of bright leaf (hand tied and the regular flue cured) both of which I am very fond of. If you haven't yet, I would recommend checking them out!

some of my plants may be drowned or have "wet feet" (Got another 2/10" of rain since I posted an hour ago or so). I may have to cut them or they will just die in the field. Is it even worth trying to salvage anything from plants of this age? They're only slightly larger than in the above picture.

ok, here's what I could take minutes after the 2/10 we just got and god knows however much we are getting as I type (it is a DOWNPOUR!) Mind you, that is in addition to the around 4.5 inches we got in less than a week. It started pouring as I was taking this so sorry if it's not great!

I've tried digging drainage ditches and even poking holes in the soil thinking I could dry it out quicker and get the roots more "breathing room"

These photos are from my 2013 grow, when a bed at the lowest portion of my yard flooded.

The photo below shows the recovery of the plants by 11 days later. These were eventually stalk-harvested. I primed the bottom leaf, rinsed it, hung it to dry, then color-cured it in the shed, with satisfactory results.

Thanks Bob!! Very helpful! I just got another 3/10" of rain, so that makes another 1/2" since I first posted about possible flood damage...haha!! If there's any chance of recovery it certainly needs to STOP RAINING!! Thanks again, that was very helpful.

I grow others as well. My main crop of VG is because it grows and cures easily and suits my climate. Northwest can give better information about the different varieties than I can.
