Yikes! Everything is different. I look different in the mirror. My underwear is different. I can't find things. It's like an Alzheimer preview. You're in the Twilight FTT-zone.

I honestly have no idea how to accomplish administrative tasks. I just logged in, and BINGO! a new planet, and I'm the alien. So explore, learn, adapt. I have learned that my avatar can only be square. I suppose I'll have to create a padded version to get the correct aspect ratio out of a square. Locating all the latest posts has been a challenge. But after my initial confusion, I see many similarities.

Unfortunately for those with Tobacco Guru hopes and dreams, that whole business appears to be gone. Also, there does not appear to be a reputation system. Only "points", which apparently cannot be used for a discount at the pump. How does one get points? Not a clue.

For some bizarre reason, the post editing box does not support selecting text. The only way to apply, say Italics, is as you are typing the words, rather than the standard ability to select some text after typing it, and changing it to Italics or bold or red. I suspect that for most forum members, the nuances of the text editor are not an issue, but if I proof read my post, then attempt to modify anything, or correct the wording, it seems that only character-by-character deletion and re-entry is available.

Feel free to use this thread to post any specific issues that may come up.

Bob the Lost

EDIT: I've discovered that the little gear at the right of the editing toolbar, if toggled so that it turns from black to orange, does allow text selection, but then requires entering BBCode instead of clicking the formatting buttons. You can always go back and forth.

On my phone, I can select text the usual way after I type it. You had me scared there.

So far, I've noticed that all the notifications in preferences are checked. I highly recommend going through those and making them match your real preferences before you end up with a million alerts.
If anyone figures out to have the threads ordered, newest post first, let us know. I would like to change that, rather than starting at the first post in a thread.

At the very bottom of the page is a Help button that provides some information. I can't locate a link to a FAQ about forum features (e.g. photo size requirements).

I for the most part, have been spending most of my time looking for this thread to start.
I have two mouses set up so there's less CTS from clicking.

Can we tag people in posts and have them get a notification either when they sign in the forum or have an option to get an email notification?
Yes, you just need to use @ followed by the member name @FmGrowit

You should also recieve an alert.

The layout is a bit different, but still very similar to another forum I have access to. It will take a few days to get accustomed but it can be done. And I prefer the new version! Well done!
Oh... and I haven’t addressed the point thing on both forums yet...

Suggestions for forum members
  1. On the forum Home page, in the secondary menu bar, click on New posts (on the left).
  2. Work your way down the list, reading the new posts, until you begin to see posts you know you've read in the past.
  3. Click the Mark forums read item on that same menu bar (on the right).
  4. Once you have done that, clicking New posts will show you only those you have not read yet.
Clicking the title of an unread post will take you to the latest unread post(s) in that thread (once you've Marked forums read). Prior to that, just go to the last page, and scroll to the bottom of the page.

You can, of course, just click Mark forums read at any time, in order to see only posts made after your click.

I was using Windows XP (circa 2002) on my desktop computer (purchased in 2000) until 2013. Sometimes, you just have to make the leap.

I'll try to explain this again.

The program the forum was built on is no longer supported. This means it's a target for hackers who have no intent other than to somehow defraud you. In other words, it's like living in a really bad neighborhood with no locks on your doors or windows. You have two options...move to a safer neighborhood or buy locks for your doors and windows. Either way, your life will change...hopefully for the better.

Reminds me a true (and funny) story.

A woman filed a complaint with the local police department claiming to have been sexually molested. She claimed it happened to her (presumably by the same person) three times in recent weeks. In her complaint, she said "and if you find him, tell him if he doesn't stop it, I'm going to start locking my doors."
