What Pipe or Pipe Tobacco Are You Smoking? [Pics!]

Sid.Stavros noticed the absence of a "What are you smoking" thread within the Pipe Smoker's Forum. Now we have one.

I'll begin with a pipe and a tobacco.

Garden20171229_3327_AaronPipe4yo_600.jpg

The tobacco is a blend of (parts per 16):
  • Prancak N-1 [Indonesian Madura Prancak-95 crossed with Izmir]: 7 parts
  • Guácharo Cavendish: 7 parts
  • Colombian Garcia Perique: 2 parts
The blend smokes cool and mild, and resembles a mild Virginia/Perique blend. The Cavendish contributes to its mildness, but is so hygroscopic that it tends to leave a little bit of soggy blend at the bottom of the bowl. Next time, I'll keep the Cavendish to below about 4/16.

The pipe is among my favorites: a fat bulldog, made for me by forum member, Aaron, exactly four years ago. It was made from a meaty hunk of plateau briar. Here's what it looked like when new:

Note the virgin color.

and the original thread with details about it: http://fairtradetobacco.com/threads/3586-Aaron-s-Fat-Plateau-Bulldog

Re: What Pipe or Pipe Tobacco Are You Smoking? [Pics!]

There was a small blizzard here a couple of weeks ago and I had a burst of inspiration to make this blend:

Latakia - 5 parts
Cherry Red 401 - 2 parts
Perique (bought) - 1 part
Yenidje - 1 part
Cigar Scrap (probably WLT Dominican) - 1 part

Pressed for a week and sliced into lances (Test batch, so I didnt make enough for a proper flake). I'd offer pics but my phone is currently misbehaving.

The cigar leaf plays an interesting role, at times it seems to dominate but then pulls back and the Yenidje comes forward. Could potentially use a bit less of it, but I've not smoked enough to decide yet. Works well on a cold evening.

I've also been enjoying Pearl of Shibam quite a bit recently (although I did add some perique to mine)

I have no idea how or why the original thread was closed. It's open once again, and merged with the latest posts--and is now sticky.

' Dayyy from Greece, the sun is present here in Athens with 14°C and that makes shopping easier. This is the last 2017 pipe photo from me, tonight due to the celebration i wouldn't smoke. My wife asked me:
"Have you shown to the guys my new pastries and the cup that i bought for you?
No but one day i will
Why don't you post today these pastries and this cup?
Mmm...maybe
You will post today these pastries and this cup!
Yeah..."

So does anyone here has any question or objection why we are looking today this pastries and this cup? Cause i ain't.

Drinking coffee directly from the head of a man who is able to work tirelessly all night long seems like a promise of high caffeine. Happy New Year, Sid.

And the pastries look delicious!
