Sid always adds the artistic photos. Ya gotta love the man's taste. Fine pipes captured in relaxing photographs. I do believe he has every pipe blend ever made by mankind..lol. Always a pleasure to see his work.

I am smoking Amphora Original Blend and later a cup of chamomile before bed.

Sid, I wonder if you ever considered writing something about the pipe and tobacco you are smoking.

Wiktor

I wrote the name of the tobacco that i have smoked below the photo, the pipe is a Stanwell 185 restores and i added the yellow acrylic ring in the mouthpiece. :)

First time I've noticed this thread. Although mostly a cigarette smoker I always have at least one bowl of pipe tobacco a day which increases during the colder months of the year when I'm not so busy doing other things.
It can be an expensive hobby here though. Imported blends like Samual Gawith and Dunhill don't come cheap and can only be sourced from specialist tobacconists in Buenos Aires which is a two hour road journey from where I live. The few domestic brands widely available in the Kioscos are not to my taste...they're weak and have very artificial flavourings added. It wasn't until I came across a company called Sayri who specialise in hand rolling cigarette tobacco and noticed they use 'tabaco en cuerda'(rope tobacco) to produce their snuff.
I decided to get in touch with them and ask for a sample of this rope which is produced in the north of Argentina bordering Brasil. They very kindly sent me back a length of rope/twist as well as ready rubbed to try. To be honest my first reaction was one of surprise. It tasted more like cigar than the virginian based blends I was used to. However I found I wanted to smoke more. It was strong in taste but didn't burn the tongue. So good was it I immediately placed an order for 1kg of rope. Now several months later I have stored another kilo. This is what I never tire of smoking daily.
