I am getting a few more cobs soon, so I'll have to give that a go. I just tried some HB for the first time last week in a clay and enjoyed it.I've been told that Haunted Bookshop smokes well in a cob, so lately I've been dedicating my Country Gent to the blend. I think there's something to it.

I saw this post the other day and found your ashtray to be genius. It inspired me to make one today with an Orlik tin that I just finished off a few days ago.Gawith Hoggarth Black Twist Sliced, a pre-sliced version of Black Irish X, which is dark fired Virginia with a little Indian dark air cured thrown in.

Said to be "strong". I found it to be full flavored with mild spicy hints, some pleasant earthy and leathery notes, and a subtle malty sweetness in the background. The aroma was similar to most Virginia blends I've had, but perhaps a bit muted. Never got hot. Never bit. Enjoyable all the way down.
The pipe is a Guildhall shape 298.
