Every time you log OUT, your unread post number is reset to "0". Your unread posts will still show up as highlighted or bold when you go to "What's new" or "Veiw active topics".

Unread post automatically expire after a certain amount of time. Don't quote me, but i think its 10 days.

With this program it can be set at literally any amount of days...even 0 or disable the feature all together. I have is set at 30 days, so if you're gone for 3 months, you'll only get the last 30 days notice of unread posts. When you have a large number of occasional members, it would cause running large sql queries if members have not visited in a long time.

It will show your unread posts from previous visit or last visit. If your not careful on your clicks you can screw it up and show all posts as read! It has a prompt alerting you before hand though so you have to pay attention. If you double click on certain icons you can specify all threads as read and any threads posted after that would be unread. That may be what happened.

Does anyone want to read Brown Thumbs unread posts? ;)
