I rolled this stick with a chunk of shamois from Auto Zone. I put a slat on one end and screwed it down with another slat. Notice the S shaped burn.

Very nice cigar !! Do you use a Mold ?

Jan.
I was never asked that. The answer is no. I use paper and the palm of My hand. I polish it with a blade. I don't have a shaveta, Might make one however. Some times I use glycerin and honey or pectin on the rolls. It depends on the tobacco. I also roll "bunch and book binder" style. To finnish the answer I don't have a mold. I also don't ring size My sticks. Just eyeball them for the size I want.I can get them all the same size without a mold. The one I showed was larger than I smoke normaly. I like them half that diameter. Panatela and smaller.

How did you roll it on a chamois? I'm curious and can't figure it out. Kind of like a home made buncher contraption is what I'm imagining, pic's would be good since my mind isn't giving me any.

I will get it back from My son today, If not I'll make another one. You take the rag and a lath stick and screw it down to the board closest to You. On the fare side sandwich the rag between two slats. (to keep it tight all the way across when You pull) Fill and pull when working the stick. Reverse of the Leiberman style.

Well...I finally did it! I rolled my very first cigar today!

I am pleased that I finally attempted it...however it looks like crap, it's too "loose", I had a heck of a time with the leaves...most might be embarrassed but you know what? The best part of all of this is that I did it! I had the help of many here (though I won't name names as I might embarrass you!)...and........in the end, I had FUN and look forward to many more!

BTW (ADDED BY EDIT): I meant to add that I rolled this with nothing but my hands. I have not done the book method, or any method at this point. I just wanted to get my hands on some leaf and go from there....ahh...the great road ahead of me!

It's sitting in the wineador for now.

Thank you all for the push...help...and now, without further a do...

I enjoy passing a homerolled cigar to someone that has never heard of homegrown tobacco. I don't tell them that some of the leaf is the highest quality from WLT. The latest was today when I gave a cigar to a new aquaintance that is working with me and his eyes lit up when he smelled it. He looked a little envious when I would light one up prior to telling him it was homegrown.

Join the club of amateuer cigar rollers.Don't go by looks but how they smoke. FmGrowit posted way back that a good rolled cigar will burn 6 min. unattended. If a cigar burns that good no matter how tight or loose than you can't be wrong. The proper case of the filler makes alot of differrence in rolling and burn quality. I generaly roll 1-2 and smoke them. I have never saved a cigar.

Did you mix it with some Ligeros? Which ones? I have a couple of blends that could stand toning down with a mild nicely flavored Seco for change of pace smokes. How did you like the flavor?

My usual filler blend is a leaf of ligero - currently using Dominican, a leaf of viso - current sticks have Paraguay viso, and the rest seco - various, but my favorite seco so far is the Piloto seco.

The Colombian seco is smooth and understated. It's actually a bit bland by itself, but does mix well with the stronger-flavored leaves.

The Piloto Cubano Seco by far is one of my favorite leaves. If you still have some Mata fina, take 1 strip ¼ of a half leaf (not bitter in small quantities), add it with the Liguero, and the Piloto Seco. If you have Habano, throw a half leaf or two in there. It's good! The Paraguay flojo Viso can stay.

Quo, I'm proud of you! Practice away!
