Started beheading and bagging today after beetle picking.
Dang jap beetles everywhere.
Some of the Plants are close to 5 ft. The leaf is looking nice.
If all keeps going in the right direction it looks like a better yr than last yr.
Any ideas on what is going on with my leaf tips. I would think it is too early to be turning ripe.

plants are looking great. I am bagging some this weekend too. Compared some notes with last year, and have a lot of budding at about 5 leaves per plant less this year; something going on with the early flowering for a lot of us. My havanah is budding at only about 15 leaves compared to 20-22 last year.

Yellow tips could be the potassium defeciency talked about here:

Thanks DG, that looks like it. I guess there is nothing I can do about it. Most if the plants have it on a leaf or two.
I don't keep track of the leaf count, last years dwarfs make these look like monsters except for a few, the harrow velvet is taking its time and so is the hickory Pryor. Almost everything is going to bud.

Early budding here also. Most of my Orientals and Cuban varieties are already bagged, two plants per variety. I just bagged my second cigar wrapper variety today. My Burley and Flue Cure are just plain not growing. I still can't figure out what's going on there. The Dark varieties are coming on but still slow.

That's a great patch. I'd take that any day.

Just read that topping early should help with the potassium defeciency.

Awesome lookin' field of backer.
One of my PickledHerring's is willing to take a ride to Pa.
If backerplants would freeze to death on a flight to here ( BigBonner) , wouldn't it be possible to send CannedHerring the US of A and keep you alive ?

Very nice and healthy plants. So far only my VBL is budding anywhere from 28 to 30 inches. Great job on your grow. I figure your getting your curing plans together.

Thank you, Rickey
I haven't decided if I am going to stalk cure the burly or hang the leaf. I guess it matters on how much time I have. Plenty of room for either since the
The rest will be flue cured in the walk in cooler.

Your walk-in cooler did you a good job last year did'nt it. I'm building a new one this year. I needed a better box and a little bigger. I am looking forward to following your cure this year.

Thanks Greg,
Got hit Good the other night, one fatality, the Havana plant that I saved after the cutworm cut it in half and I put a rock on the stem to hold her together.
The other one that got cut in half is doing good since I planted her.
The bamboo held them up good only one went over a little bit but lost some leaf.

Right.
Was Arthur bad where he hit ?
Don't honestly know. I was busy picking jap beetles, zip tying plants, Drinking Beer, lighting fireworks. I don't watch much tv. I only go on my computer at work and cHeck out the news there. Other wise I am on my dumb phone from time to time.

Del Gold is starting to do something.
I restarted these 3 Times due to mold and were planted much later the Big Ones that had hair cuts.
Will be interesting to see when they bud.

They look good, and still plenty of time.

Will be interesting to see the flowing time. I have been wondering if those of us that have had early blooming simply started seed too early. It was a long winter and everyone was antsy to get started, even in February. If those bloom normally, I will for sure wait longer to start seed next year.
