Yes chicken, I savvy running with a IL6, but it's just not gonna be drive-able at the 70+ like a SBC is.
Of course it will do it, but I DO like the feel of a powerband that will get me out of a pickle, in traffic... defensive driving.
Best defense is a good offense! Drop the hammer and put all that silly **** behind me.
Slowing down when things get silly doesn't work, because when they get stupid, you then run on up into the mess.

But a 6 is dandy if you just want to motor around the county... like me. No more road trips. I'd fly.

Well, seems you are keeping your plan TopSecret... it'll probably be on wikileaks soon! lol
If >> I << were to build that pickup I would slam it, and build a ratrod tow truck rig on the back to pull engines with.
Spun aluminum wheel covers, retro A pillar spotlights.
racing-disc-grn_so.jpg
Cocola box cooler w/12v coolerator rig and beer keg bbq in the back.
Shotgun rack. Winchester Model 12, short.

Good Find, I'm a GM guy. But drive whatever I can find Cheap.
I have a guy I know that has one, all origional even paint.
It needs a restoration but is really nice per say. Stored inside.
he wants a small fortune for it.
Ill have to swing by and get some pics of it. Is Pink on white now or should it have been red on white.
Yours might have been blue on white.

i just joined a website that specializes in these trucks.. a lot of good info. on there, and a lot of activity...these guys have some extensive knowledge, and from the looks of it. i may eventually find my hood on there, im going back to both trucks and looking at the vin's so i will know for sure what year both of them are.. since i looked at that website i know where to look. and what the numbers and letters mean. so by tomorrow i'll know what the one with the bed is.. and by sunday i'll know what the one with the busted windshield is,

i got a guy intrested in buying my motorcycle, so who knows by christmas i may have both of these trucks in the yard... im gonna borrow a buddys semi. and his flat-bed equipment trailer to haul them on.

the guy with the one with the bed on it has. these big military forklifts... he said he'd pick up the whole truck and sit it on my trailer, [ i gotta get a pic of that ]

the glove box and the instrument panel look the same on both trucks.. ones a apache and the other is a normal c-10.. perhaps i'll get lucky and they will be 1-2 years apart

AND THEY BOTH HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON.. '' THEY ARE BOTH MISSING THE GAS PEDAL ''

Lokar sells the throttle cable and direct fit gas pedal. http://lokar.com/product-pgs/directfit-pedals/directfit-main.html

They also have universal fit stuff that can be modified if they don't have your year model. http://lokar.com/product-pgs/throt-assemblies-pedal/pedals-main.html I've used their throttle cables on a 68 Road Runner drag car that was so modified a stock factory cable could not be made to work. The Lokar cable was a really well made product and easy to work with. Check out all their stuff, you may find other things you need. They have column shifter linkage parts, brackets, dip sticks, shifter boots, plus all kinds of stuff. They have a great name in the aftermarket segment and many top car builders use their products. Home page: http://lokar.com/index.html

EDIT: It's cheaper to go through a local dealer than to buy direct from Lokar. Here are the Florida dealers:

Auto Metal Direct has a catalog for your model truck for body parts and other hard parts: http://www.autometaldirect.com/catalogs.php

Most aftermarket sheet metal is junk from Taiwan. I'm not familiar with AMD's GM parts, but the Chrysler parts are so good they are licensed by Chrysler to use Chrysler part numbers, logos, and stamps. Aftermarket sheet metal doesn't come any better than that.

They also have window rubber.

thanks for that info. knuck i ordered that cataloug.... in the 90's i was doing the same thing to a 79' mustang and had a box full of catalougs [ before the internet was around] .. but i can tell im gonna have a lot of literature on these trucks very soon,

i went to look at the one in my town today. to get the year off the vin # it's a 63' and got some more pic's.

..IMG_20151112_152913896.jpgIMG_20151112_152920486_HDR.jpgIMG_20151112_152955035.jpgIMG_20151112_153012385.jpgIMG_20151112_153017616_HDR.jpgIMG_20151112_153036072.jpgIMG_20151112_153119954.jpgIMG_20151112_153151313_HDR.jpgIMG_20151112_153155302_HDR.jpgIMG_20151112_153200169_HDR.jpg

neither one of the trucks im looking at is in bad shape. i wonder which one i will decide to put toghter... im going this sunday to look at the one with the busted windshield, [ it was raining last sunday so i didnt get to do what i wanted ] mainlly to look at the vin and get it's year confirmed,, i think it's a 60' with a different hood, my wife is allready questioning me, im looking for a hood, and dont have neither truck in my yard,

i think the one with the good windshield is a '' custom cab '' from the steering column, the bed on the outside looks good, but the floor of the bed is rotted. i could easily slip in a bed liner. but that aint the way i want to do this ride, i'll either go with a thin plate of steel. or possiblly a sheet of diamond plate,
the inside of the cab of the city truck is really nice.. which one i will bring back to life will depend on how they look once i get them both here,

ive allready designated a place they will rest in my yard,, away from any falling limbs. e.t.c......... my wife hasnt seen me go bannanas over a project of this magnitude since my datsun... i know she will be o.k. at first.. but i can allready hear the bitchin. from the time im spending outside..... to the mess im creating in her washing machine,,,,lol

and i found the gas pedal.. it was disconnected and laying in the floorboard. ive given away a bunch of parts that i would like to have now... like a set of chrome traction bars... billet pedal inserts,

If you dont have LMC truck parts, my son gets that catalog as well and I'm not sure if they are up to your grade acceptance, theres what used to be Warshawskys not far from me , called JC Whitney's ...not sure if t hey cover your year model but they do carry quite a few parts for chevys. Sofseal is good for correct re-pop weather stripping, windlacing, etc.
another one ,not sure if theyre still in business was Danchuk (sp) motor supply.

i seen your thread on the yahoo... tiller group.... your #'s are in that spot. im surprised yours may be stamped thin... but who knows when your tiller crossed the line the stamper guy may have had a hangover...lol.... and not hit the hammer as hard.

they are there. thats the only spot the #s are placed, use some paint thinner and they will appear.

well i went to the 60' apache today.. i put a battery in it but had no power the positive cable going to the starter proablly has corrosion and it aint making contact.. but the motor wasnt locked down. it turned easily by hand. the air breather threw me for a loop. it had no air filter, but was filled with 2'' of oil, and on the filter housing i seen stamped '' oil level '' i was told by my dad thats how these old vehicles were made. ive never heard of such a thing. [ hes gonna help me bring it back to life ]

this motor is knicknamed a '' stove-top '' and i can see why

on that vin plate the first number tells you the year... that '' 0 '' makes it a 60'' cant wait to get it in my yard,
