I never weigh it ,but I figger 1 box a week. Last year I had around 52 boxes, but know the ol'lady has started smokein so Ill need more. I think Ill have enuff but I wont start smokin this crop till August of next year. It looks like we will have 5 days of mid 90s and sun comein so maybe it will dry and I can get it out of the way.

You got any idea of how much you save per year?

Boboro, did you bag your first crop? or did you top it, and grow the sucker crop for seed? I thought about doing that until the rain forest opened up. Then I thought best to go on and get my seed first.

Beautiful leaf Boboro. Does it darken up as it ages? I let my leaf go to yellow then brown and then took them inside the house to dry the stems, but they still look kind of light colored.

I do use the kiln to dry the midrib and to bring it in to case, but don't kiln it. My boxes were 1 to 1 1/2 lb. I hope to cut a lot to day, got rained out yesterday And will be gittin the shed ready for the heater tomorrow. Ill be getting rid of some more trees in march. I need more sun on the curein shed.

Do you not kiln at all? I'll be naturally aging mine unless I get a wild hair and build kiln this winter. Do you stay a year ahead on the aging?

Build a kiln to dry steam and bring bacca in to case. I will kiln bacca If I just get in a hurry to try sumthan. But I just give most of it a year to age. cause I can.

a kiln would take that bad weather out of the question,

i would prefer to air cure my crop. but after last years wet weather and me getting some mold,

it would take a very special built shed for me to air-cure, [ a shed i plan on making next year ]

when i build my curing shed, im thinking of leaving the floor '' sand'' so i can wet it with the water hose, for humidity.

I already had the jouist just had to frame it up and put the plywood on. Most of the floor is dirt. I had to cover the low side to dry it out. The wood stove got here and the door was broke off. Not a bad problem. It looks perty good for what it is.
