Boy, I miss woodcuttin. before I was old enough to run a saw, i was handed an axe, and split the wood as it was bucked, then my little brothers stacked it in the bed of the pickup. I got pretty big around late summer every year. I've been city living too long....

I used to use my own wood but now buy log loads. Its a lot of work saved not felling and hauling. Plus I figure also better to save my wood for lean times if I can afford someone else's now. In either case it sure beats the cost of oil.

Apparently you aint had no drought lately Boboro. My place will be a savanaah without some serious rain. I aint cutting down anything till I clear all the fresh dead trees from the last couple years.

I can cut a few a year till I die and not run low. About 10 years ago we had a bad drougt and I lost a lot of nice hickory trees.

You can always tell the places that don't really need to heat by all the free firewood, if you were close I'd take all you had then start eyeing the standing trees lol

I got one of them Eden pure heaters last year and use it when its chilly. And build a fire when it gets cold. Saves a lot of wood.
