You need to watch which type of potash that you put on tobacco ,Murate of potash or sulfate of potash .

This piece is from the link I provided . I think may be helpfull to home growers.

Potash fertilizer for tobacco is sold in a sulfate form, while potash for other crops is in a muriate form. Muriate of potash contains high levels of chlorine, which can drastically affect tobacco quality, causing it to retain water and hurting the burning qualities. However, it is cheaper than sulfate. It typically runs less than half the cost of sulfate, on a cost per pound of nutrient basis. There are legal restrictions on its use (no more than 50 lbs./Chlorine/acre/ season).

By the way I think the cat did the chewing the dog looks too friendly and innocent

Thats a great link, I'm in a fresh grow area this year so I'm taking my chances to not add anything besides the compost and lime previous to planting. The ground is still wet and turning green from the nutrients still available.

Why don't you use your pesticide sprayer?
it's kinda hard to lug that big apparatus,,,
to just spray the leaves with, PLUS, i get a more focused and better aim, while holding the leaf up to expose it's underside.

while using the 1 qt. sprayer,

i try to keep my sprayer for only pesticide, and liquid fert. applications,

I looked closely today and found aphids on 4 plants, all Black Mammoth and within 10 feet of each other. Other 4 varieties had none that I could see. Maybe they are like fish and school up.

Very social beings must be..

maybe we should allow them to live freely and eat as much tobacco as they want, we shouldn't hurt the little guys /sarcasm

Hi Jim
Nice video and plants lookin good but need a drink also.Wilting down like that is normal in extreme heat but can almost be avoided with proper moisture. You are loosing yield by a pack or 3 just during the video.
Never seen phids on YTB,Silver River,Ottoman and Bursa yet but, the flue crap can get infested rapidly without fast control measures.GET ON EM NOW.

Nice to see how well you have done.GOOD JOB!!!

Another note on the Turkies, if you top em at say 6ft(prebud)they will out yield a 10ft plant has long has one stays on top of the suckers.

nice to see you make the move over, to this forum
been a while since we chatted
and i agree, the bugs, arent on those strains, they are more focused on the burley.allthough the ottoman does have some phids on them, but they are right next to the burley

i been topping them, and getting all the suckers, off,
i gave them a good watering today, hopefully we will get some rain, i fertilized them with muriate potash...

and perhaps, it will take effect and increse thier nicotene, content, by making more resin on the leaves,

right now, walking in between the bursa, and ottoman, you will get very sticky from rubbing the leaves,
