You might have something there? I frequently use two types of enzymes in another hobby of mine, and one has to stay at 160- 165* the other 145*-155* I wonder what temperature the natural enzymes work and die at?
The tobacco oxidase enzyme is broken down (denatured) at 149ºF. The peroxidase enzyme denatures at 189-191ºF. The idea of a bright cure is to nuke the oxidase, and leave the peroxidase.

I read that some place...I think with Flue Cured you need to hit 140 to kick start em and not go above 150 or you kill em. After they are started you can run 130 to 140
But don't take my word on this I am not sure of the temperatures however there is a range...

Ready for handing. Nice and even. The better circulation made a world of difference.

So here i sit smoking a cig of flue cured izmir.....not sure what to think except GOOD. Much more mild than expected. This could be a daily smoke by itself. Really hope a 30 day kiln cycle brings out the flavor that is already there. :)

3Rd run is a little disappointing. I tried a simplified schedule of 5 degrees every 12 hrs starting at 90. Result was more brown and less gold. yellowing phase was erratic at best. Everything from green to brown by 3rd day.

Still not bad results but not what i was hoping for.

Yes I am self critical. But after how nice the second run came out my expectation was equal or better.

Yes it was mixed varieties but that was not the problem. The erratic coloring was within single varieties of leaf.

I got to try some of the flue cured Izmir and I have to say that it was incredible. I gave Bama a leaf each of Stogie's flue cured Celikhan and Prilep 66 for comparison purposes. It was hard to part with, but it will come back to me in spades one day. That's one of the best things about this forum. Leaf and seeds just fly around all over the world.

Have not tried the samples from Bob yet. Want to give the pipe chance to break in first but look forward to it. Would like your honest opinion on the "smoked" silver river lugs too. That was just a quick experiment.

Now that I have gotten comfortable with adjustments and how the kiln runs I have realized the first 72 hrs/yellowing is driving me crazy. All I can do is check temp and humidity every so often and WAIT. No fiddling to do...which is a part I was enjoying.

Yall fellas are striving for perfection.,......
Me.... I just want no mold :)
So if some of my leaf drys and looks like air cured, it is no problem at all.
It sure is nice tho to have the leaf stored inside of a week tho.........
I have lots of strains planted and wont have enuff to fill the chamber with same kind either. So at least dry is fine for this year.
Next year will have to stagger planting so as to not run out of chamber space .

Am about 54 hrs in on this run. 103d. Yellowing nicely and starting to smell good. Will bump to 110 in the morning.

You are right on schedule according to the Cureco schedule. By 72hrs. you should be at 120* db. and almost to a smokable product. :D
