Seems you didn't invent it, but I wouldn't of known it. I leaned it here! Love the metal hangar trick. Going to do that next year.
I modified my first approach. Instead of the hard 90 I used bending pliers to turn it into a gentle curve, enough to keep it from slipping off the hook. I also took a bastard file and filed the end down to a needle point. With the lack of high temps right now the leaves arent wilting as much and the main rib stays crisp like celery, making it hard to thread onto the wire without snapping. The needle point helps. Also get uncoated hangars. I could only find coated but it was easy enough to strip it off of the portion holding the leaves.
