I believe the trick is for the water to not be high in chlorine or minerals and possibly as neutral pH as possible.

A gallon jug of distilled water is only a couple of bucks at the grocery store and lasts a long time if used for hydrating leaf.

Quite pleased with how these tasted. All US tobaccos with a strip of Carmen Cubita.
A little creation… I’ve been working with a couple of factory’s for a while now on dialing in some blends. One of the factories sent me some leaf to blend with. Some 43 & 48 ring gauges. 1x 50 ring consisting of short fill.

A simple, no frills, "long filler" cheroot. I used my Trabzon #2 sun cured lugs for filler and binder. Currently resting, rolled in a paper towel, as it comes down in case for smoking.
A bit rough around the edges, but not bad for my first. Good elasticity, albeit thin. As a result, the is 1/2 inch of the 2nd binder tore. I also neglected to make sure the binder was bottom side up, so the veins are visible.
