I'd say 65-70RH is some kind of average around here but it has been hotter and drier than usual the last few months, lots of days in the 90s with ~35-50RH.

I keep my sticks in tuppers and coolers with Boveda 72 but open them a couple times a day to pick my smokes.

I'd say my setup is poorly controlled and optimized.

I personally like to keep my humidor in the 62 to 65% range. Once it inches up towards 70% I get a lot more burn problems.

I heartily agree, I also find better flavors in that range as well. Waikiki, the sticks are looking really good!! Definitely try some perfectos, they are more difficult but I have found they have made me a better roller.

Thanks, Brewin. I will def try perfectos eventually. Torpedoes too. I think I will expand my mold collection once I get settled on some blends.

I tried a few different wrappers on a blend I like, Sabroso Medio. It's the blend kit from WLT. I have 4 originals, 1 PA Oscuro, 2 Criollo and 2 Cameroon. I'm thinking the Criollo and Cameroon will work well. Not sure about the PA Oscuro. The PAO had quite a few holes in it that contributed to its ugliness. Doesn't really matter though as long as it smokes well! Wrapping on a metal surface has really helped me wrap more beautiful sticks. I love the variety of colors in the first pic.

No picts this time, but I just finished smoking the last of my most recent home rolls (#9 actually). I'm pretty pumped because these two that I rolled a few days ago, while pretty ugly, performed and tasted great. Very tight and firm to the touch, but nice draw. No touch ups or relights, even though I was laying them down for 3-5 minutes while doing other things for the ribs I am cooking and the cigars I am getting ready to roll. And this Terroso Profundo Blend from WLT is just a fantastic blend. All in all I'm quite pleased. Also grateful for Bob's advice when I first started to just roll one at a time then smoke them!

I'm prepping an Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper leaf and a Dominican Binder leaf at the moment for my next two rolls. Azucarado Oscuro blend this time, which I have not rolled since my first cigar. I figure after another 10 or 11 cigars, I may be to the point I can roll 4 or 5 at a time and let some of them sit and age a bit, which means I need to figure out a decent way to band and label them.

I think I finally came up with a good finished head end to the wrappers.

That looks great, cg, and sounds like an excellent blend even though I don't know what the mata fina tastes like.

Exactly what I'm saying! I get a better burn from home rolled WLT.

Yesterday, I sparked a Room 101 Connecticut corona, by Camacho. Quality make. The CT wrapper ought to burn. Reading in the man cave. Tunneled and died halfway thru. So I sparked up an Uppowoc Mataloto in the garage. I was up a ladder with a wire snake trying to re-route a TV cable; so I would put the thing down 3 or 4 minutes at a time. No prob all the way to the nub.

Why do these home rolled burn so much better?

That stick looks great, and your photo layout brings it to another visual level.
Is that one of those old boy lighters or one of the xikar pipeline lighters?
I been thinking about getting one of the xikar, cuz I cant justify the price of the old boy to myself, much less the wife.

Lew that's an Old Boy. I like them but when they act up they are a PIA. I wouldn't buy another if that helps.

Rolled some of my favorite blend so far tonight. I have decided to name it Mischievous Marshmallow for the toasted marshmallow flavors I get from the blend. 1/2 leaf Nica Habano seco, 1/2 leaf corojo seco, 1 leaf corojo viso, 1/2 leaf Dominican ligero, Dominican binder, and PA Broadleaf wrapper.

Rolled up some of the previous blend I have been rolling, mischievous marshmallow, but wrapped with some TX grown Sumatra instead of PA broadleaf. Curious how the wrapper will change the blend.
