I'm really upset, I made a fucking mistake. My tobacco has now been erroneously in the fermenter for a week at 140-144 Fahrenheit. Now I'm concerned that the oxidase has been destroyed and can no longer contribute to the tobacco maturing. What do you think?
I would continue the cycle at 123-128F for the remainder of the two months. The only way to know for sure if it continues aging will be to continue smoking it. It is or it isn't. It's probably still better than gooey, chemical laden, commercial crap.

In 2021 I tried to kiln ligero, seco, volado in my “fridge kiln” for a month, and it didn’t work. The fridge must have had an air leak as the humidity was out of whack, and it was a constant adjustment. It never achieved the nose I was looking for and a lot of was very dry. Instead of fixing the seal, I gave up. In 2019 I did it, and it worked beautifully and I made some pretty good sticks. I kept the leaves from my failed attempt in laundry baskets, in a dry room. Last month, as a test, I sprayed some ligero with distilled water, rolled it kind of tight, stuffed it in a zip lock bag. I left it on my patio in the sun in a cigar box for the month of August. We had triple digit high temperatures the entire month; it was damn hot in South Alabama. I occasionally opened it, looked for mold, and after a month, it fermented nicely. It never molded, and I was afraid all the leaf was ruined in my first attempt, but it worked. I smell chocolate, feet and hint of ammonia. 5EF48490-4538-4A06-B201-0E99F5CC868D.jpegI’ll be making a couple sticks this weekend!
