Rolling short cigars

Im trying to figure out a way I could roll 4" cigars. The binder shouldn't be a problem cause I thing I could just cut it in half. But was thinking I might be able to cut the wrap like this and be able to roll a couple short cigars with it. Think it might work for me?

Looking at your other cigars, I see your veins tend to turn a little around the sticks.
The reasoning we try not to have the veins wrap around the stick is the burn will tend to be wonky.
You should be able to get four, 4 inch cigars wrapped with a good sized leaf.
If you were to cut 4 straight strips out of it, you would end up with the veins at an angle and by rolling at the correct angle, end up in a position to bring the head up in such a way to be able to form a cap and have the veins running straight on the cigar.

Yeah I smoked a couple an they sure do run. I focus too much on getting the head lined up right that I tend to not get the veins straight. Seems like if I were to focus on getting the veins straight, I'd be wrapping more then I should and come up short when I get to the head

What if you cut them like this? Works for me...


Then I trim the outer edge too make it straight as it's the part you see...

I don't win any beauty contests with my cigars but that seems to be the general arrangement for the wrappers. Some will use that inner portion of wrapper as binder since the veins are thicker and more pronounced.

I've been rolling short and fat cigars and use the same sort of technique as Jim D above. I don't use quite as much curve in my cuts but that's personal preference. Just roll a cigar, except not so long! Lol. I didn't cut the binder in any particular way either. It just kind of happens organically. I did precut all my filler leaves into 4" sections and then entubado roll them.

I've been too busy to roll or even smoke cigars lately (harvest time) or even visit the forum! But there is a pic in "Pics of your sticks" of my Gorditos from probably a month ago and I think they came out pretty good and smoked well too.

Another reason for running the veins lengthwise is because at an angle they have a tendency to pierce the wrapper.

I figured I could just cut the wrap like that, didn't wanna "experiment" with the new kit cause only about half the cigars I rolled are smokable cause some are too soft or the wrapper is coming unraveled and so on. I did find a method to roll a nice tight cigar so I'm on the right path I'd say

Once the binder or the wrapper reaches the head of the cigar, don't hesitate to back up. Unwrap it and start over again, if it doesn't feel right. Do-overs are allowed. Don't apply glue until it feels like a good stick.

I recommend you pick up a lb of WLT's Sumatra Cigar Binder. Most of it is wrapper grade and you just can't go wrong for the price. Especially starting out this is a very easy leaf to work with and learn on. I've made many cigars using this as both the wrapper and binder.

I just got a lb of the azucarado, the wrapper and binder seem tougher than the melodioso cremosa. The smell is awesome, I can't let one of these go to waste

I got a pipe to smoke my scraps so I won't be so persistent to using every bit of the filler

You can save your scraps and use them to fill another cigar too

That's where I went wrong with alot of my rolls, a few came out kinda loose when I tried to use my scraps up.

I didn't try cigarillos, I tried mixing the scraps up in a typical robusto size roll, didn't turn out well at all.
