Blue mold photos—scroll to the images near the bottom:

With blue mold, the "fuzziness" appears on the undersurface of the leaves.

What you see is called chlorosis (loss of chlorophyll), which ultimately leads to necrotic patches. Various fungal diseases as well as physical trauma (e.g. sun scald) can create that effect.

What variety of tobacco is this?

I don’t remember what variety that specific photo was but it was on every variety I had. Maybe next time I should put some sort of tarp over them. Could very well be damage from rain or sun as it has been raining here on and off almost every day

I am thinking it is sun scald as the other three plants I put at the other property are by a tree line and receiving shade and they look good, I guess I will have to invest in some type of shade netting, if anyone knows some way I could get the material cheap lmk.
How have they progressed? Hard to diagnose stuff like this because many things can look different, or look like eachother. The fact that certain plants more exposed got it makes sunscald a hopeful option. I agree it could also be blue mold or wildfire, etc. I am in KY and some people used to bring their plants in from FL and brought blue mold with them, as that practice ended blue mold is no longer a problem here as much, I have been told. These things come with rain so perhaps if the other plants are under a tree they did not get infected rain/they may have not be in the same group. Or you just got sunscald. Not sure what the best way to go about covering them

It was definitely sun scald, all that survived are fine now some where the mud leaves are slightly yellow from the sun scald but not burned through. Probably just need to make sure they are partially shaded when I transplant outdoors. Been picking the suckers and damaged leaves and they look good for what I have left. Here’s a picture of the field. Got 10ytb, 13cr, 15shirazi, 13bafra, and 15xanthi left. They ytb took the biggest hit because it had the least shade. The sun scald didn’t seem to effect the orientals much other than some damage to the initial lower leaves.

I took a mud leaf from the cherry red and left it on a black table in the sun while I wrenched on a truck, it was a little green still but very dry, crushed it into some flake and rolled a little cig and I was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t anything to write home about honestly but it wasn’t unpleasant tasted a little of hay and definitely low in nicotine but I was expecting it to be harsh with only an evening of curing in the sun. Looking forward to when they are all grown up.

Man this thing stinks I guess I should hose it down and try to strip whatever I can out of it. I already have a mini crockpot I got to use for this hopefully it is good enough. I guess the next thing I would have to find is some kind of temp controller, anything else I’m missing?

36$ isn’t bad, I saw there was a user who coded a raspberry pi for one and I have an old v2 pi laying around wonder how hard that would be to control the pot. If it’s too difficult I’ll probably end up buying one of those tho much more plug n play.

It’s a lot less stinky now and much more space, now I just have to get a socket set and take the rest of the crap out. Anyone know what I should fill all the little holes with? Just more foam insulation or tape them off? Not really sure what’s best for the tobacco

I cleaned my fridge/kiln out with hydrogen peroxide then rinsed with water. It seems to remove the smells pretty well while not leaving harsh cleaner residue.
