Looks good what varieties are in it?

An unknown Burley, Virginia Bright Leaf and Prilep. Mixed the tobacco with Plantation rum, vodka, Jack Daniel's Honey and honey. Everything vacuum-packed, then left in heat (40-45 degrees Celsius) for a few months, then dried to about 75%. Then pressed some plugs :)

Awesome info on the casing and sealing, it looks like a tasty blend for sure. Do you add the vodka to raise the alcohol content? I can’t imagine it would play a big flavor role with the whiskey and rum also being added. Also when it’s that wet how do you dry it before pressing just leave it out, or is there a better way?

I don't think the vodka gives any great aroma, I sometimes have vodka when I bake "snus", and brought it here as well. Needed more liquid, so it had to be vodka. When I dry up the mixture, I first put everything on an oven tray, then in a jar and there I keep an eye on the humidity, and when it gets down to 75%, I put a lid on it. Then I store the tobacco in a humidor.

Thanks for the info, will have to try it your way whenever I get a decent crop.

Just a side note because I was thinking about it. I remember reading a post on this site from bob talking about how your senses perceive what you are accustomed to. I was smoking a couple rollies of Norwegian shag from Peter stokkebye, now that I am smoking an American spirit turquoise I can only taste the sweet hay notes of the Virginia. I used to never notice that until I tried such a Virginia forward smoke.

Took some of the lower primings for the shirazi and bafra and sun cured them till brown and crispy this evening after several days in the towel. Took them in just a few minutes ago and started grinding them up by hand. After a few minutes of shredding I noticed I had a bunch of super small particles on my fingers and couldn’t resist. I put my finger up to my nostril and smelled it gently and immediately felt a tiny little burn and sneezed. I’ve never tried snuff so I don’t have anything to compare it to or maybe it’s just placebo but if the orientals have enough to make you feel a little sting with no sodium carbonate I think snuff will be fun. After sun curing for only one evening the flower smelled like slight floral spice and hay wonder what it will smell like with a little age.

Snuff is one of those weird things where you can't get enough of the uncomfortable burn

all in all my first snuff cook was only with 11g of shirazi and bafra tobacco flower mixed at an unknown ratio, .6g sodium bicarbonate, .4g sodium carbonate, 4g kosher salt. I was working with what I had but it seems fairly usable. Need to probably dial it back the additives as it is maybe a hair too burny for me because my right nostril is clogged rn probably also because I’m a newbie. If I can get some sun tommorow I will sun cure the xanthy and the miserable amount of cherry red and yellow twist bud that was ripe. If that goes well I will do the same as today and mix all of it together and dial the additives back to my liking. Some sort of grab bag blend comprised of the various ratios of whatever was ripe in my stunted field. Maybe I might also try and lightly toast the flower.

The wind is currently blowing what rain there would have currently been past so this has been my solution to sun curing today. I also took all the sprouts inside and I’ll just flip them under the two lamps I have now sprouts in the day seedlings at night.

This is whatever was left of the Bafra/shirazi cure plus the scraps of ytb burley, the bag note right now smells like sweet sweet honey. Once the cr bright leaf and xanthy are done they will do in here to be mixed. Then I think I will mix them with whatever stock I have left of the original bafra/shirazi flower to test, then maybe lightly toast them?

I toasted the last of the cr and xanthy that didn’t finish curing with what little sun there was today. Mixed it into the bag with the rest of the shirazi, bafra, xanthy, ytb. The original mix was super sweet like honey and the toasted mixed in almost gave it a graham cracker smell like sweet toasted baked goods. Graham cracker snuff sounds delicious lol.
