Aj fernandez blend 15 robusto. Used to smoke the short robusto a few years back when i could get a pack of 15 for £88 ($116). Really nice 40 min smoke especially for the price point. Now, sadly these have gone up to £170 ($225)

Suppose I have been growing fond of the smaller vitolas these days but I bought some Independence Day "Firecracker" cigars getting in the mood for this most extraordinary American Summer. Yes there is a twist off of the cap that makes it look like the fuse of a firecracker. Its clever and it was the perfect size while grilling brats and hotdogs for my son's 2nd Birthday party. I was surprised how well the construction and flavor were for a sort of "novelty" smoke.

Another hand roll. Connecticut broadleaf ligero, Pennsylvania broadleaf ligero, and Nicaraguan Condega ligero for the filler. Mexican San Andres for the binder. Habano Oscuro for the wrapper. High end of Med-full. More of a savory flavor profile versus my other blends. Leather, light black pepper spice, peanuts, slightly salty, light Carmel notes. Very chewy smoke. The Condega is the main change. I've made blends predominantly with Condega and have notices they produce more dry and savory profiles. This blend would go well with a black coffee.20260623_014237.jpg

Enjoyed a my father no1 robusto. The original my father line. Heavenly smoke as the temps dropped down in the evening to around 26°C from 34°c. Still hot but there was a lovely breeze. I was sat opposite my almost ready to harvest CB plants and my nearly finished shade structure.

My wife was sat opposite me and my 2 year old daughter was roaming around. It was on of those beautiful moments that will become a story that i will narrate to the kids (maybe even grandkids) later on in life should god grant me life that long!
.... beautiful memories

Another hand roll experiment. Connecticut broadleaf, PA broadleaf, Dom. Croillo 98 and a full leaf of MSA for the filler, MSA for the binder, and a Nicaraguan natural wrapper that I assume is Criollo 98 seed. Starts off with a typical Nicaraguan spice and nuttiness but with a big chocolate punch after a few puffs. The spice becomes more of a cinnamon/allspice with a creaminess. In the last third, the baking spice notes ramp up with the chocolate becoming more of a cocoa powder and an addition of a mineral heavy earthiness comes in as a base note. I attribute this to the extra Mexican San Andres leaf added. The baking spice and earthiness is interesting because I generally only get that from Dominican Piloto leaf. This stick reminds me of Drew Estates Maduro Undercrown. No picture this time.

Avowed, The Vow Corona Gorda. After a long work week this one enhanced my quiet time in the garden. First Avowed I have ever smoked and I bought the bigger sampler about 6 months ago. From what I've read the guys at Small Batch worked with Kellner cigars in DR. Fellas this is a top shelf stick. Great construction consistent burn but the flavor transitions are the main course. First third is good and spicy with Criollo undertone. Like a Camacho Corojo and Don Pepin Blue then half way boom spice abruptly stops and the body downshifts for an inch and a half. Retrohale is mild and cream comes out. Last third body grows a fuzz and the flavors turn dark. I feel like this is when a less quality cigar revolves into bitter ammonia but this one is like dark French roast coffee with a floral note. And...it smoked down to a nub without relight or touch up. Been awhile since I found a cigar that captivated my attention this strongly. The transitions made the experience like I had smoked 3 cigars in one. Can't wait to try more of the sampler to pick most box worthy.20260626_210300.jpg

Good news: On Friday the bank made the repayment via e-banking and a few days ago I received the repayment paper. Now I have no obligation to the bank! The whole affair left me with some health issues but it is not something irreversible. I only think of my compatriots who especially after the 2010 crisis, lost factories and businesses, others got divorced, others became unemployed and ended up Homeless on the street. Others barely make it with the loan and credit cards that put psychological pressure on them and create problems in their lives.
I've already started saving money and that means I can more easily buy more cigars and pipe tobacco.

Bad news: The day before yesterday, the 20-year-old dog of our best man's daughter, Sisy (from Anastasia=Resurrection), past away in her sleep. In recent years, she had gained weight and had heart problems but she was always lively, happy, and liked to play with visitors. She would go to each one of them for cuddles and games and always wag her tail. She didn't do any damages, she didn't bite anyone and if she was in her room and heard people in the living room and they wouldn't let her in, she would cry loudly to open the door to come in.
Every ''drrrrn'' sound (even a cell phone) she thought was the doorbell and barked with joy because she thought people would come in. When a visitor got up from the chair to leave, she would go and stand in front of the door and bark quietly to make him stay and play with her. I know that thousands of people die and often unjustly (wars-illnesses-accidents etc) but no matter what, this loss is not easily forgotten. I don't know if there is a Heaven for dogs but if excists then Sisy will be there.

Decided to drop by one of the local shops (35 miles away) and pick up a few sticks. I don't buy very often but when I do I'll get some that I know I like and one or two that is new to me. The new to me stick of choice is an Ashton VSG Illusion. I aways strayed away from Ashton because of the higher prices vs Arturo Fuente but I'm glad I tried this on. $20 a stick where I picked it up. Medium to full bodied but more on the fuller side. Black pepper, coffee, cedar, leather, and a touch of cayenne pepper spice. Very similar to other cigars made my Arturo Fuente but with a heavier body and fuller flavors. Also similar to some Honduran cigars I've had from Punch and Hoyo.

Camacho criollo robusto. New one for me. I've smoked the ecuador, nicaragua, corojo and powerband. Quite a fan of camacho cigars. Honduran grown tobacco has a nice spicy kick that i like. Only downside was the constant touch ups, must have had to give this particular stick around 7-8 touch ups to correct the burn. Great stick though!

The perdomo 30th anniversary maduro epicure.
Wowww what a cigar. I've smoke the 20th maduro epicure before and i do prefer that one, but this is a very very good cigar. Very complex and very potent. Haven't really researched the blend but it definitely seems as though this one is more ligero dominant. The 20th seemed to be a lot more rounded off. This seems to have a few edges for now. Think a few more years of age would be perfect for this! And oh whilst writing this i've found there is a very subtle but very sweet note on my lips. Man i do like perdomo blends!

Arturo Fuente Magnum R 44 Rosado. Way different of a blend then the regular Grand Reserva line. All the way down the stick i predominantly baking spices with a touch of herbaliness similar to pink and green peppercorns. Some but very little sweetness, and the signature Arturo cedar wood as the base note. A bit disappointed with the burn it has tunneled on me a couple of times. Overall a good stick. 20260628_154008.jpg
