I am watching the documentary: Hell and Back Again (2011) about the life of Sgt. Nathan Harris. Wounded in battle, Harris with PTSD returns to North Carolina and his devoted wife to fight pain, addiction, and the terrifying normalcy of life at home.
Among the names of the fallen soldiers which the films mentions in the end is the Marine Cpl. Nicholas G. Xiarhos, a fellow Greek country man. Was in 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force. After returning from service in Iraq, he changed battalions so he could be deployed to Afghanistan, his Medals & Commendations are: Purple Heart, National Defense, Afghanistan Campaign, Iraq Campaign, Global War on Terror.

Good news: my pipe lighter finally will arrive to my hands today, bought from ebay.uk but the Royal Mail return it back as "dangerous item'' and the seller manage to send it with another way.
Bad news: 1) Rocky my canary does not want to take his medicine via drops in his drinking water and i have to think another way.
2) My blood pressure is high 16/10 sometimes and the heart-rate is high due to stress, i started from yesterday taking 2 homoeopathic medicines. I don't want to believe that i had to stop drinking coffee and smoking my pipe.

Good evening to you all and thank you a lot for your concern, my blood pressure is still high despite the 2 medicines, i needed some fresh air today to reduce the stress so a visit in a Café was inevitable.

Planta Danish Black Vanilla.

Sid, 16/10 kPa (120/75 mmHg) is not worrisome, and would not meet criteria for a prescription treatment. If that is as high as it gets, it is not a problem.

Bob

Dear Bob i had in the past for many years 11/7 which latter became 12/7 and now once reached the 17/10. Here in Greece doctors give the 12,9/8,5 as medium and the 14,2/8,9 as "high" which means i am already above the limit. An average number for me those days is the 15/9 and some times drops to 13.9/8.9
Here a number above the 15/9 sounds the alarm and the 20/10 means you are one step away from the "Boom".

New pipe smoker: Home blend of 50% Homemade Cavendish from Cigar rolling scraps, 30% Virginia, 15% Burley, 15% Turkish Samsun. Rolled and pressed for 3 days. Pipe is a La Croix. Pipe holder is a ramekin I stole from the kitchen ;)
The Cavendish gives an occasional blast of chocolate & coffee due to it's cigar tobacco origins. Fairly strong blend though.

I WAS going to try out the lovely things the UPS guy brought me today for my birthday present. Alas, the weather is not conducive to such an endeavor: 50 F and falling with 25 MPH winds gusting to 40 MPH. Maybe tomorrow.....

Finally got to try out the Savinelli last night with two aromatics; Davidoff red mixture and Dobie's Foursquare Aromatic. This will be my aromatic pipe. I specifically chose a wide bowl size to help keep aro blends cool.

Weather was still pretty cold but no wind, so I bundled up and ensconced myself in the yard with my Labrador (Mouse) and the stars as company. Orion was particularly pretty in the Southern sky. But I digress...

First I tried out the Davidoff. Was very disappointed. And surprised as I love Davidoff cigars. Even after drying had a hard time keeping it lit and the flavor was "off". Got a 1/3 of the way through the bowl, and gave up. Tried the Dobie`s next. Awesome. Genuinely a great smoke. Soft and smooth with nice flavor, easy to keep lit, and just enjoyable.

Will try the Davidoff again with more dry time. I do like the Savinelli pipe. Very easy pipe to smoke either holding or clenching. Don't care for the filters though.
