Experimenting with my first batch of home grown burley in my first quality pipe the Chris Morgan bones, I forget the exact model but it's a nice briar pipe for under $50.
The tobacco was grown this summer here in Utah and air cured in a small greenhouse. These should all be very low leaves on the plants and I think it's all Blue Star 100 which matured first this season. After air curing I stripped off the stems and rolled the leaves in plastic bags and threw them in the back of my truck with a black shell on it. Through the summer it got to 130 degrees F inside and stayed above 70 F most nights. It's been sitting in there for a couple months. I finally thought it smelled decent and gave it a go!
It still has some tongue bite and a very slight grassy flavor but overall no really big flavors that stick out.
The nicotine is definitely higher than the full flavor Camel cigarettes I'm trying to quit! Without even inhaling very much I still got a stronger nicotine hit than I'm used to. That surprised me!

Ha! I’m always a bit envious when Sid tells us Athens’ outside temps… he’s enjoying a coffe at 71F (nearly 22 C for us imperially impaired) while I’m walking the dog at -3 (Celsius, of course) and without the comforting presence of a pipe… or a coffee. I must take a trip to Greece sooner or later…
