I talked to a buddy in the AG. Dep. today, He said this year We are going to have a problem with grass hoppers. I went out side and found three in the yard. Sounds like the bug problem is going to be a thorn in the side this year for every one. Now to find a kill for them that I can deal with. (no damage yet)

Last year I used garden safe Ortho Bug B Gone around the perimeter of my patch for grass hoppers, crickets, and other misc. critters. It worked better than nothing. According to the instructions you can use it in your patch and be okay but I put around the outside of the patch to be safe. It might work better if you use it in the patch.

I had so much rain last year my critter control kept getting washed away and I couldn't mow or pull weeds so the grasshoppers just jumped from tall grass to tobacco. They weren't on the ground much to eat the Bug B Gone. You may not have that problem where you live. I hope I don't have that problem again this year. I never could get caught up on critter and weed patrol.

Yesterday a group of five humingbirds payed a visit. So there is no chance of anything below 40 deg. All of the plants ready to finnish are in Rio Rancho now and Now I am setting what I call micro green houses out frount For My wife. I take the clear cups used in motels and set the seedlings just below the ground level. Then put the cup over it and pack dirt around the cup. I tap the top of the cup to see inside. When the condisation is no longer presant I flood them. I will have over 60 after today LOL. When the leaf touches the top of the cup, I take it off and clip the bottom leafs off and cover the plant to ground level. They are the sun started seeds so no hardening is needed. They look good so far. I have 11 bucket plants as of now. When I went out to water them yesterday 39 were gone. I went to look at the pics from the camera and they were black. They spray painted My camera with up side down paint (ground marker) I won't get mad this time- I guess I'm getting used to it by now. I have plenty more this time. Now My cameras are in bird houses looking out the holes. My wife was looking every where for them and didn't find a one. I had to show here where I put them.

I had plenty of plants left to put some out front. I told My wife I was planting some seedlings for Her. She asked what type of flowers they were. Hum? I told Her baccy flowers, and she said we are all nuts again. LOL. So here is what She gets.
6- Bursa
11- Black Mammoth
5- Silver River
6- Turkish Izmir
4- Aztec
4- Gold Dollar
7- Vg Gold
2- Lonnies Havana
2- Xanthi Yaka
1- Samsun Maden
2- White Mamoth
1- Mahorka
1- Reams 158
1- Pa broad Leaf
1- Jalapa
1- Dominican Olor
1- Havana K-1
1- Fl sumatra
1- Big Gem
1- Frog Eye Oronoco
They are all in the ground already hardend off and I have a 1,000 or so to put in cups for market.
I pulled the down spout apart so when it rains the plants will get the water instead of the street. I also planted the Izmir next to the side walk due to the narrowness of the plant leaf over hang. I guess she will plant Her flowers under them all after I prime the bottom leaf off. Now She gets a jungel to look at LOL. I wander if I can get Her to help Me put the rest in the cups?
I have had two critters that I never seen around this time of year as well as Knucklehead (snake) I hope every one is carefull on their planting this year. Don't know what to expect.

Well all are planted, And the second starts are out in the ground. I rolled a cig. with Turkish, Burly Yellow Twist Bud and Mexican vanilla Cavendish along with a bit of Latakia ( from deserdpipe).Any way I was standing in the bay window with the sun light coming in, And the air was calm in the room. The smoke was in a layer of light blue white hue as it floated gently up and down in the light. I didn't think much of it untill a buddy came by and lit a store bought. The smoke was totaly diferent in color and actualy stunk. It also had a diferent float to it. Hum? Maybe the crap in them.

Desertpipe, It was actualy warm here last night at 42 deg. The snow was at the 7,000 ft elev. You got all the snow and wind last night. Looks like all day today as well. I had a small amount of moisture on the ground at 4:00 this morning. I have More anti freeze in hand Knucks. Fresh from the still. LOL Having work done to this pc in a little bit. Then I can drop back on My grow log to place the pics where they belong.
