For everyone interested in knowing the blends and process;

I bought 2X Azucarado Oscuro blend form the WLT website, since it said limited edition I thought I should get some before they run out. I followed the blending instructions that came with the packs.

Wrapper: Ecuador Maduro
Binder: Dominican X0.5part (half)
Dominican Ligero X1part
Flojo Viso X1part
Nicaraguan Seco X2parts

I got 30 good sticks in the end!

I am still new and only buying the WLC Blends, but as soon as I get a better grasp of the different leaves I will experiment more. I have to say tho what I have learnt from this second experience and this is my own opinion is that MOISTURE is key to getting a perfectly tubular cigar, I sprayed all the leaves lightly with distilled water and used Entubado method of bunching. I didn't use any molds, I only used newspapers, but I wont be using newspapers next time as I think the ink might compromise the blend and instead I will use food wrapping paper (the type you usually have in the kitchen).

Since I wont be smoking these for 3 to 6 months at least I figured I should age them with style, Cuban style, so I found some old ribbon laying around the house and I tied the sticks together and wrapped them in cling film, so until then I wont be able to say how they smoke draw wise and taste. I will review then in a few months.

I will share some sticks when they have all aged well!

Very nice job on your rolling...you're a natural.

I agree with Bob, you're much better off allowing the cigars to breathe in a humidor or even a plastic tub with a lid that can easily be removed to check your sticks now and then.

Brilliant Guys, Thank you very much indeed. I think I will pop them in a tub until I can get me a bigger humidor. The other one still got some sticks from the other roll.

Look great.

Try one after a couple days, to assess burn and draw. If Good, set them to age as you please. Bad thing about batches in the beginning of learning, is if there is a problem then you will keep duplicating the problem. If they for example have too tight a draw, everything you roll between now and when you begin smoking this batch will likely have the same problem.

Very nice looking cigar. Question... does steaming darken any leaf? Is this an industry secret to making maduros?

Ben that I bet is a good tasting cigar. And as Cigar said you must be proud you grew the tobacco used in it.
I wish I could get the heads of my torpedo's to look as smooth as yours does. Good job

Rolled a bunch of sticks this weekend, a dozen to be exact. This is my standard blend 2 with A different wrapper. I used a Bezuki wrapper instead of the Criollo '98. I will fire one up next weekend and see if the different wrapper changes the taste very much.

Blend 2
Bezuki wrapper
Double Dominican Binder
1 Aleman Ligero
1/2 Paraguay Flojo Viso
1/2 Brazillian Mata Fina
2 Piloto Cubano Seco

My sticks are still on the ugly side but I am getting a real consistent roll with the filler.

F: 1 Pennsylvania red seco or viso 2013, 1 burley viso (periquepress 2013), 1/2 nicaragua ligero
B: 1/2 Wisconsin seed leaf seco 2013
W: Comstock Spanish 2014 airdry +1 month vacuum press.

It was very good smoke. So rich taste that I was impressed. On half cigar I was pretty high and I get shinny eyes. In last third I needed to broke cigar down, because I want to see what was the mix. I didn't write down. Shame on me. Lesson: Write down your blend or you will be force to destroy such a good cigar.
Perfect burning except ring on wrapper. Of course it will be aged in the future.

Very nice. Among the "Spanish" type cigar varieties, in which I would include most Havana types, the Comstock Spanish makes some superb wrappers.
