It snowed here all day on monday. yesterday it tried to warm up again. This is only the second time this year it has snowed enough to matter. Snow is how we get our water for the year so we will take as much as we can get for now. Otherwise it's been a very mild winter. I can hear the wind outside so it is going to be nasty and cold today. I'm going to Larry's place.

Yeah, It's supposed to hit the fan here this afternoon (2/29). The whole mixed bag this time. Snow, freezing rain, sleet and possibly kitchen sinks.
The good news is the soil isn't frozen so it should melt pretty quickly. Here in CT we have had a really mild winter with very little precip. The freak October storm and one other of about 9 inches is really all we've had. So fal we gotoff easy this year.

It's 12:40 and the ground is white already. Roads are still clear but school buses are out in force so there must be an early closing.

keep rubbing it in Bob, cause they have another storm coming right behind this one. It was windy cold and snowing here all day. This one has up to 50 MPH winds with it.

snow is a good thing, the drug dealers from new york stay in new york because they stand out against the snow like a sore thumb. this year w/o the snow we have the drug dealers up here. effing heroin pushing pukes.

we pay a price for part of the year to keep them from staying here all the year.

Just a few hours after I snapped my "Postcard from the Blueridge," we had severe thunderstorms and a tornado watch. But still, a crocus in February is a lovely and magical thing.

I guess you would have to go from a week of nearly 70 degree temps to one of 32 or below to know. It tends to make a lot of people very sick. Not unusual here though, I've seen it snow on the fourth of July. The worst this year is it seems every time it snows a wild fire breaks out. The last one destroyed 72 homes. The first one 42 or something like that. One was started by power lines that fell in high winds and the other was from fireplace ashes that where set out when they had not yet cooled off. Just one example of what can happen when the weather turns so quickly. A guy decided at the last minute to clean out his wood stove before fending off the cold snap. People just are not thinking about winter weather this year. Mistakes happen. That one was a real expensive one for a lot of people. 90 mph winds and wild fire makes an impressive path of destruction.

True, true. Friends of mine in Bastrop, TX lost their home, cars and almost their lives in last falls wild fires out there. They had short notice, came out of a sound sleep and had to drive thru a wall of fire to escape. Us here in the NE losing power for a few days seems minor by comparison.

welp we dodged another one, ended up getting a light dusting of snow.

this bodes well though, i think my issue last year with nicotine devoid tobacco was due to the intense amount of moisture in the ground and in the sky all season last year, this one looks like it will give me tobacco of a quality that you gentlemen normally expect.

so wierd, when i moved into my house in vermont we had the coldest/snowiest winter in the last 50 years according to the locals and weather people, and this one appears to have been the most mild in about twice that amount of time. i'm definitely getting a quick introduction into the best and worst that mother nature can throw at vermont.

Hey Smokes, Where in Vermont? I spent a lot of my growing up time in the Bennington/Cambridge, NY area.
