Midday smoke. These arrived this morning. Bolivar royal coronas. Not smoked bolivar for a while. Typical cuban tobacco - grown, cured, fermented and not really any age on it. Seemed rushed tbh. Construction was very good, so i might have just got lucky. Overall nice smoke but its not the same bolivar as they used to make. Could definitely do with 5 yrs of age minimum. I might age the other 2 for a few years and see the difference it makes to them.

Another cuban to end the night. But this one is huge. Its a punch double corona. 7.5x49 i believe. Wow this is one of the best cubans i've smoked for while. Lasted roughly 2hrs and thats after a hearty meal and smoking at a medium pace. Its one of those cigars where you want to set aside 2.5 - 3 hrs to really appreciate and enjoy it! If you ever get the chance to try one or buy a box .. take it!

So its 2:30am here in the UK. I have a night off work and thought i'd reach for an AJ fernandez new world cameroon. I never used to like cameroon wrappers when i first started smoking a few years ago but, after snoking arturo fuente cameroons i have started to develop a little soft side for them. Fuentes are a medium smoke so the the cameroon wrapper fits them perfectly. AJ isn't exactly known for light/medium cigars but this wrapper fits the stick perfectly. Its amazing how blenders can blend such quality!

Got a little smoke in while putting up some lights outside. Too cold out in WI for a bigger smoke. This is a Don Emmanuel Anunnaki Corona Fina. Blended by Eladio Diaz out of the Dominican Republic. Not too bad of a smoke! Was smoking kinda fast due to outside temps, but it just reminded me of a amped up Cuban cigar. Excited to try the robusto version soon. IMG_8019.jpeg

Enclave Broadleaf Toro, by AJ Fernandez. Nicaraguan fillers and binder wrapped in CT Broadleaf.

Constructed well, firm but easy draw, produced generous smoke. I typically enjoy cigars wrapped in CT Broadleaf, but this one was strange. It had a toasty bitterness that made it taste a bit like French roast coffee, and I don't like French roast. On paper, this should have been a winner.

Finally received permission from the condo board to activate my balcony holiday light display. The building actually prohibits hanging lights from the balcony but it's a give and take kind of thing. And since since I was enjoying what was the last decent day in Chicago...I broke out the Cuban, one of small collection of inherited cigars; they were stored dry for a year or ten, wrappers totally shot. But they're my favorite cigars, cheap, cheap or free, and today warranted a broken and battered Montecristo, started out as a #2 but I cut it down to #4, saved the tobacco for future rolling; nothing goes to waste.

It was good, had that creamy spicy flavor, burned a little funny missing parts of the wrapper. All in all, for an hour spent untangling holliday lights and sweeping off the bird crap, considering I didn't shell out $$ and it was my one and only Cuban this year, it was a nice treat.

Soooooo.... Happy Thanksgiving Day Everybody, Smoke'em if you got them, and take a moment to be thankful for whatever you have to smoke today. Remember, all around the world there are people who can't smoke a cigar, mainly those born before 2007 will never get to enjoy a cigar thanks to new laws being passed.

Cheers

Now that we're all done shopping, got a few pounds of tangled lemon right before it was all gone, and there's been a break in the snow machine sitting over Chicago, it's time to hike, get a pizza and smoke a few cheap cigarillos. Given the miserable weather, it's the perfect smoke(s) for a hike. Trying a couple of Dutch Masters, got a box for free, advertised as tasting like an old school cigar, they call it OG Fusion...they were interesting, almost tasted like a slightly above average cheap cigar, one burned sideways, the other perfect. And a candela Garcia Vega, which never disappoints, as I hike through 6-8 inches of snow.

Cheers

Smoked these awesome sticks over the last week or so. Both tatuaje, one is the cafe no 7 and the other is the el triunfador petit robust. Both were amazing smokes. Its very hard to get the tatuaje brown label smokes here in the UK for good prices. The triunfador just landed at a retailer i regularly buy from. The no 7 was a typical tatuaje smoke which has a flavour profile i really like. The petit robusto is a little spice bomb. Absolutely loved both of them. I may seem a bit biased with my smokes but my overall preference is anything made by the garcia family (don pepin, jaime). You just can't go wrong with any of the sticks from their lines!

25° and that's as balmy as it's going to get for awhile...that's fahrenheit for those of you outside of the US...
the cold air does something to the quality of the cigar, the little bits of snow dust
Monte White Torpedo...actually stood outside my local grocery store a few extra minutes just to finish it, decent smoke by the second third, first third was too mild...nice finish..
got a feeling this might the last time for a week, month I can enjoy a decent cigar outside
get ready for winter, 0° here we come...weeeeee
