Xmas eve, eve. So pulled out a tatuaje 20th anniversary. Now this smoke is quite different from all the other tauajes i've smoked. It has the standard nuts, earth and a tiny little but of spice, but theres something else there and i can't quite put my finger on it. The closest description i can think of is, Kinda like indian incense sticks-sandalwood with musk maybe. Very unsual. Its a solid medium smoke. I think I prefer the standard tatuaje brown label/seleccion de cazador and the 10th anniversary. Dont think i'll be buying this one again anytime soon.

Big Tatuaje fan here! When I smoked that blend a few months back I do recall it having an interesting nuance to it. Granted, nothing bad, made start pricing out more.

Have you tried the brown label Escasos?

On Christmas Day, out on my front porch, the temperature is 64°F, with a light breeze. The sky is overcast.

The #30 is 5.25" x 50.

The Consuegra line of cigars are factory seconds from the premier cigar factory in Honduras, that makes Punch, Hoyo de Monterrey, A. Allones, El Rey del Mundo, and JR Ultimate. Seconds of their cheaper cigar lines are not particularly great, but the seconds of their best cigars are excellent: #9, #30, #72, #73, and #84.

Ending xmas night with a Fuente Opus X oro oscuro robusto. My first time smoking an opus X. Wanted to see what all the hype was about. I Have to say its definitely lived up to its name. Fuente is normally known for their medium - plus smokes but this is definitely on the fuller end. I know the price tag should reflect the craftsmanship and quality but i do think that £50 ($60) per stick is quite steep and I also know that alot of that is due to stupid tax/VAT rates.
Nonetheless an absolute delightful cigar!

Christmas day, got out and enjoyed a bike ride, balmy 40's here in Chicago, trails are finally ice free, mostly, and dry. Was going to smoke something this afternoon but on my ride I stopped at my favorite smoke shop. Small place run by a gal named Sam, she sells the cheap cigars and vapor sticks, along with other mish mosh. Over the years we've developed a routine, I stop by and she tries to convince me to try vaping, gives me free samples of cheap cigars and I tell her to let me know when she get's anything Cuban in stock.

So today, with a laugh, she gifted me a box of Cuban Tobacco Limited Edition Vape sticks. I tried one while I was biking. It's tastes like someone's idea of a Cuban cigar, a slight taste of vanillla and spice along with a mild tobacco taste. At 5% nicotine, I sort of "smoked" it like a cigar, not really inhaling but back inhaling a little. By the time I got back, I found myself strangely not craving a cigar, something very strange indeed.

While I don't see myself replacing cigars with vaping, I must say there are times when I can't light up, (i.e. International Air Travel, the ten minute wait for the elevator) but these vapor sticks might come in handy.

So thanks Sam, and to all a Merry Christmas....And that is Christmas Day, 2025.

Cheers

Ending xmas night with a Fuente Opus X
It was over the Christmas week of 1998, while a group of us were in the middle of a 10-day backpacking trek inside the Grand Canyon (Tanner Trail—Escalante Route—Tonto Trail—Bright Angel Trail), that I smoked my 1st and only Fuente Opus X.

"Although the night was in the low 30s, after dinner I spread my Z-Rest pad on a flat boulder, lit up an Arturo Fuente Opus X cigar (a gift from my brother Jonathan) and stared at the stars while I listened to the Colorado rumble over Hance Rapids. Raudy [my eldest brother] accepted one of the lesser cigars I had carried along. Micah [my son] rolled his own tobacco. It was a good moment."

Today I smoked a cigar made by a roller who also makes a mighty fine chaveta. It had an MSA wrapper but the rest of the blend was not given. There were notes of cedar, sweet corn, and dried mushrooms in the sidestream smoke, or perfume if you prefer. The burn line was super straight. It was a nice holiday treat.1000006746.jpg

Hello from Athens-Greece, we had clouds and light rain but in few minutes the sun came up and everything changed, the temperature is 54 'F.

If you pay attention the background in the second photo is a bit different, the reason is that i have clanged tables.

As I was about to cut the cigar, an old man sitting to my right started shouting: what? are you going to light a cigar? did you ask me? I told him who are you that I should ask you for permission? the place is closed-yes but it is the outside area and I asked the waitress if we can smoke and she said Yes-do you see any ashtrays-yes here it is-hey, where is the manager? The owner came and said that they smoke here, immediately the b@stard started yellowing that he didn't feel well etc and the owner politely asked me to go to a table closer, I did because I am not a person who likes fuss, i respected the other customers (nobody of them said nothing to me) and of course I smoked my cigar normally.
Dirty-old men like him, do you know what they do? As soon as they see that their opinion is not being accepted, they start: "oh, oh, help, my heart, cough cough I don't feel well, i am stressed, call the police, etc." to force you to leave or do what they want.
"Life is a bitch" and one night that grumpy he will receive a harsher answer from someone else and then he can scream as much as he wants, damned Hygienists.

Jubah is a stray kitty found beneath a plastic tank, abandoned and injured by another cat meowing for her mama. In the beginning was very hostile refuse to be approached but soon my brother manage to lure her with milk and later when became more friendly to take care the wound. After a while she became very friendly, climbing on every member of the family asking for food, hug and caresses. When it's morning-noon she is on the back door mat and the in afternoon-night on the front door mat, ready to invade inside the house every time the door opens.
