The ground level suckers are coming along nicely, I decided to give the stunted plants a week being topped to maybe fatten up a bit. That Metacomet plant sure is a funny looking plant with it's round leaves. It looks different than all the other types. and my YTB is still looking like a pile of leaves on the ground.

Watch the stem base of the YTB. Mine have done the same thing. They are just now starting to grow upwards........about the time the bases get to about 3/4" Diameter with no height at all.......BOOM! they are now growing. Really fat leaves, some almost as wide as long.

Today I measured a leaf on my VA Gold (granted it's the biggest plant) The leaf measured 34"L x 27"w If I could only get the whole patch to grow like that, I'd be set for two years. Then at about 5:30 pm we got another 1.5" of rain. That's 3" in two days. Our normal average rainfall fur July is 5.8" we are now at 12.5". How can anything grow in that?

The atlantic has been hard on yall this year. This time of the year I stay glued to the tropical satalite map of NOAA. There are 2 strms in the pacific now and the atlantic looks like it will be all on east coast for a while as well.

Right there with you. I am sure this last day of the month pushed me over 10" and the normal is barely 4. Yesterday I was all smiles BC many of my plants were pushing 3' tall or better, this morning after last nights storms 70% of them are laying flat on the ground, and had to leave them that way to go to work until this evening.

You have to do it quick or the stem will start bending up to the sun and you get curly cue stalks. This year like every year my corn got layed over and I said F=ck it and went on to work. I didn't straighten a single layed over flat corn plant this year and every one straightend right up. Not so with my bursa. out of 190 plants I had 88 that were layed over and curly cued even if I got to them within a day or so.

Right you are. Got home last night and when I stood them up, many of the tops were then pointing horizontal. Hopefully when I get home this evening they will have straightened back up.

I've had some do that too. The end will turn back to the sun but the curve won't straighten out, you just end up with a Z in the stalk. Some of them I've let lay and they turn back up too and you only have an L bend.

Well, I got 5 tobacco sticks hung from the sand lugs, and about 25 of the stunted Yellow Orinoko. They have begun to yellow nicely. My sucker crop should do fine if the rain holds off long enough for them to grow. Pics coming.

The power company chose yesterday to change over to the newly installed poles. Right in the middle of pictures being uploaded the juice went off.

Little dutch on the left and YTB on the right. They both have short plants and huge leaves. If the sunshine keeps up I hope the YTB will shoot up.little dutch.jpg
